I have a five year old Audi A1 due a service and mot. I have been told the cambelt will require changing at this service. It has 8000 miles on the clock, does it need changing.

Which engine is in this A1, EA211 engine family have "for life" cambelt which means VW Group in the official workshop manuals state that it is not a service part/task, though I'll be planning to put a roughly 8 year change period/ 50K miles on the belt in my wife's August 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS.

Hey I’ve bought a 17 plate Audi a1 1.4 150 tfsi last week. Can anyone confirm if its due a belt change as its 5 years old and on 16k. Unsure if chain or belt.

Also what sort of cost am I looking at in the uk at an Audi dealership?

many thanks

It has a belt and is due a change at 5 years. Some counties have a longer interval before change but I’m not getting into argument as to the merit of that.

No need to do the water pump at the same time as it’s at the other end of the engine and runs off a different belt.
