A1 Fuel Cap Locking Solenoid Replace tips

Hi all.

I need to replace the fuel cap locking solenoid on my girlfriends A1. Is there any tips for removing the plastic surround so that I may be able to reuse the old one?

Not too fussed about having holes in the plastic, just would rather not have to buy the whole new piece?

Yeah I've watched a few videos but they're all the same really. Just wanted to know if anyone had any special tips or methods for better ways to remove them.
