As this forum already has an S3 Register I thought it would be an idea to start one for us 184ers. So I will start things rolling with details of the car I have on order:

2.0TDI-184 s-tronic quattro Sport Sportback in Silver with Black/Silver seats and Standard suspension.

with the following options:
Adaptive cruise control
Audi parking system plus
Comfort pack
Door mirrors - auto-dimming on the driver's side, electrically adjustable, folding and heated
Electrically adjustable front seats
Electric lumbar support
Heated front seats
Hold assist
Reversing camera
Storage and luggage compartment pack
Through-load facility
Type pressure loss indicator
Xenon light package.

Hi, first post on here, but have been lurking since I ordered in December!

It's my first Audi after 3 Golfs, so can't wait. This is what I've chosen

2.0TDI 184 s-line sportback in Phantom Black and s-line suspension

Options list is:
Rear parking sensors
Comfort pack
Door mirrors-auto dimming, electrically adjustable, folding and heated
Heated front seats
Delete model and engine designation
Privacy glass
Black styling
SD sat nav

I've been told that my build week is 3rd March, so not sure when I'll get the car, but hoping for end of March?!

The forum has been a great help getting me through the past 2 months, although I wish I had specced some more extras (better audio and ILP, oh well I'll keep that in mind for the next one!)

Cheers Steve

Have you tried contacting your dealer to see if the better audio and ILP could still be added to your order.

No I decided to leave it as it was, the budget is at its maximum anyway.

If I had come on the forum before I ordered, I would have been better informed. It seems that some people on here are far more knowledgeable than my dealer!

Mine's being delivered Tuesday 4th March, so just a couple of weeks left to go!

184 Manual, Sportback, S-Line

Daytona Grey
B&O Sound
Privacy glass
Aluminium roof rails
Delete model and engine technology

Not too many extras as it's a company car so keeping the P11D value down. Should still look and sound pretty impressive though!

A 184 SB S line in Glacier white.
I wont list the options as I don't think it's important.
A bit my dads bigger than your dad.

A list of options can be useful so that a member can find another member with the same option if they have a query, but it's obviously up to you.

Isn't it a bit elitist just having a 184 sausage register??

Surely some thought could be given to all the different variants.. 1.2SE Register maybe

At bit like having an S3 Register...

Someone else has already suggested a A3 Saloon register...

The idea is to show who has a particular model so that if a member wants to contact another member with the same model/engine then they can look in this register rather than plough through all the members signatures. The Moderators obviously thought it was a good idea because they made it a 'sticky'

If any one else wants to create a register for other models then please go ahead.

The S3 is a model in its own right whereas the 184 A3 just has different engine surely. Where do you stop ? A register for Estoril Blue 1.2se with Pano roof and Privacy glass. Good idea though to share info.
Read my pm yet Dave ?

No it isn't, the S3 is a slightly tarted up A3 with a powerful engine, as you say the 184 is. The saloon and the convertible are more like different models because they do not share any body panels with anything else in the A3 range...

What do you mean 'tarted' up? The S/RS range are different models across Audi. No tarts in ours.

the 184 is just a different version within the A3 family.

Come on, it's just a topic. if someone is not interested just don't open it.

Everyone can open a topic for blue A3s or 17" wheels, I don't care, why should I ?

They are all built on the same line, the S3 is the same as an A3 with different bits, like Mini and a Mini cooper S, a Golf and a Golf R. Its based on the same shell and more parts are the same than are different across the range.

Absolutely steve but suggestions that the S3 is 'tarted up' for 'boy racers' and 'drug dealers ' as has been suggested is utter tosh or jealousy !

Exactly my point, same body just bits bolted on.....

Did some one suggest that? I didn't see that response.

But sadly from the thread about noise it does look as though a number of boy racers do own them, I wouldn't suggest that's the case with all owners though.

The S3 is certainly a very nice and quick motor car, I'm seriously thinking about getting one, but it's still a version of the A3.

Nice!
What the 184 like to drive?

It's an absolute joy to drive! I'm being fairly careful with it but there's A LOT of go in it and the quattro means no wheel spin or torque steer. The ride/handling compromise on standard sport suspension is perfect. More compliant than I expected but no noticeable body roll. And I am a total S tronic convert. Never thought I'd say that either! Chuffed to bits would be a ma-hassive understatement!

Yeah they're pretty eager engines. A 10 plate 3.0TDi quattro can't do nothing against them and I'm still being quite easy on mine with only having done 600 miles. Mine is a 3dr sport and it seems to attract just about every A4, A5 and A6 s line going to want to try and disgrace it. Great adrenaline rush as they fail spectacularly (so far they have anyway). It's a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing in Sport trim. :)

I love how refined they are, you barely notice it's a diesel. As said above, standard sport suspension is pretty good, in fact, it hushes bumps and small pot holes much better than the Focus I had.

Even though mine is only a FWD version, remarkably there's no torque steer either. I have had the TC cut in at 3k revs in third gear though.
