A3 2011 SLINE rear rattle

There’s quite a loud metallic rattling coming from the rear left side of the car like two pieces of thin metal banging together when driving over small bumps. I’ve taken it into the local mechanic to have a look and they’ve said everything underneath looks fine but the problem still occurs. Had two springs fitted the weekend also any ideas before I take it to the dealership??

Could be many things tbh. Is it only when driving over bumps that it's an issue? Were the springs done before the noise started or after?

The noise started before the springs were installed and is still there now.

Had a similar sound on mine, turned out to be the stone guard on the rear wishbone.

Plastic stone guard on bottom of the wishbone area. Ripped mine off. Common failure point.

Two years ago I had the knocking noise. I stuffed some foam tape between the guard and the mounting area and the noise went away, but the protection--such as it is--remains in place.
