A3 8L door sound deadening HOW TO?

hey everyone. just wondering if anyone here has done it? maybe you can share some knowledge about this process with me. any recommendations are welcome.

Remove the door card and cover the inside with Dynamat or similar.

so do i need to put it on the doorcard itself or on the metal?

Primarily the metal, but depends why you're doing it really. To reduce road noise then the metal, for sound quality from the stereo (after an upgrade etc) then both the metal and the doorcard.
