A3 saloon retrofit folding mirrors

Coding is in the earlier part of this thread. Pfl is done through coding and fl cars is through adaptations. Can’t remember them off the top of my head but it’s there somewhere.
The window auto up and down will need to be programmed in again. Same if you disconnect battery. All you do is hold button in down position till it hits the bottom and continue to hold the button down for like 15 seconds and the same up as well.

Yes make sense because I thought that will work the same way, did you know what I can do in this case?

thanks for the advise for the windows I will try it now.

Yes please someone.
@Luisfoav my idea is to try copy the long code from old modules and paste to new then adding the mirrors adaptions. Could you try it ?because currently I do not have vcds

In my case the lock switch doesn't work and the rear passenger window from the right side doesn't work to . The front passenger window behaves like rear cause it doesn't fully open unless you press it hope you understand what I mean.
@Luisfoav I am completely noob on this but I guess you have to reconnect the old modules and copy long coding from them modules 42 and 52 . Then reinstall new and paste this coding. Long coding should look something like this (005E0A205000040000001002)

I did the retrofit with OBDELEVEN, I remember got a fault that module not recognized, when I activate the function for folding mirror the fault goes away, but I realize yesterday when the first used the car.

I was lucky I didn’t need to change the modules so only needed to do the coding/adaptations and everything worked as it should.
You will need to read the old modules and get the newer ones to work the same then add the extra coding/adaptations.
Also I think if you bought brand new virgin modules they will need parameterised by dealer or specialist like @DJAlix

Yes, I change back the module and it works everything but the folding mirror so probably there is some adaptation behind it

@luiso gid you tried what I said? I am planning to do the same hope its going to work when I will get vcds on my hands
Copy long code from old modules paste to new and then do those adaptions

You were right!!, I have a lot of configuration with a different values in the the new Module that was causing all the problem in my doors, now I can lock / unlock the car from the inside, the automatic windows works and the blinker in the mirror works too. I didn't understand that those values were saved in the Module not in the computer. I connect the old module and copy everything manually to the new module.

Now my folding mirror works fine and my door works fine, but I didn't activate this:

  • Access control 2-Menuesteuerung Komfortbedienung einstellbar = adjustable

5F - Information Elect
  • Vehicle menu operation-menu_display_car_mirror = activated

what could be different?

That's great news! The last 2 is to display the folding mirrors to mmi menu . Did they appear as an option to menu now?

Thats nice to hear! Hope this is going to work in my case as well . Unfortunately I don't have any other mode . I am new to this . Hope that i will get vcds on my hand and will go to try out some things.

Hi All,

I'm tackling this shortly and would appreciate any assistance - I've posted on the thread below.

Other Thread

Cheers!

Just look through the 'similar threads' listed below, it takes some getting out but it's all in there, I have just done mine following all the threads. The advice is right go to Crew Audi for your smaller parts, there are people asking almost twice as much than new for second hand rubbish on which is usually damaged on removal.

Hi All, I’m in the middle of retrofit, and slightly confused be the cable dangling in the photo of the new mirror. Is this needed? Many thanks.

That’s for the side assist.
It slides into here if you don’t have side assist.

Thanks very much. All working accept for not having folder function when locking option not in the MMI!? Cannot see the option when coding…… I’ve gone into 09, entered the security access code, the selected Adaptions. However, in the list I cannot see Access Control 2.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers

Facelifts have different coding
It’s in the bigger retrofit post, I posted it if it helps your search.

Can anyone please enlighten me? I want to do this retrofit on my 8v pfl sportback
I got a switch, it ll be here on Monday, fortunately car has the modules that work although they have an E at the end and I ve found a pair of mirrors at a scrap store. The thing is one one has 14 cables but the sticker with the part number is torn away beacuse it didnt have the cover on it but the other has 10 cables, so what are the 4 extra cables? One with the 10 cables is 8v1857409r. So shall I proceed with the project or return one mirror?

Driver side is supposed to have 10 wires: 3 for the glass motor, 2 for folding motor, 1 for heater, 1 for indicator, 1 for ground, and 2 for auto-dimming (even if the dimming glass is not installed)
Passenger side has additional 4 wires since the glass motor has 7 wires (for position memory) instead of just 3.

Is it normal now that I ve activated the reverse dip in my stock codriver mirror that I need to have the knob at the right position to dip and then to set it back to 0 to return at its normal position? There isn t any way to avoid last move? :)

Also to sum up and have it in hand
I need to get into 42 and 52 and activate/tick the foldable mirrors plus I assume untick the "heated mirrors NOT installed" since my new ones are heated but my stock were not and also the following (taken from DJAlix older post)
I believe this is what you need:
  • 09 - Cent. Elect
  • Security Access 31347
  • Adaptations
  • (24)-Access control 2-Funk Spiegelanklappung Modus = by look command via remote control key
  • (26)-Access control 2-Menuesteuerung Funk Spiegel anklappen = Active
  • (27)-Access control 2-Menuesteuerung Komfortbedienung einstellbar = Adjustable
Is this all?
Or in bulletin lines:

It should return to normal position automatically when you drive above 15 km/h. Did you try that?

Hi all!
I ve followed everything by the letter, did every adaptation and coding and everything was accepted successfully but no folding
If I multimeter the pink blue pair of cables it sends 12v to the motor but as soon as there goes a click sound and nothing happens. 2nd clue is if I unplug the pink blue cable and give power straight to the motor from the battery it folds and unfolds nicely, what more can I try? Can anyone guide me how to troubleshoot what is going wrong? It was an after midnight project and everything went well until now:(
Thanks

Edit1: Passenger side mirror motor is dead, even if I give it voltage straight from the battery it s not folding, so can the system work on driver s side only? Of course I ve got into vcds and disabled what I ve chamged before for passenger side.

Edit2: Of course control modules are checked and they are compatible, their part numbers are 5Q959592B (pass) and 593E (driver's). Also drivers mirror that should work has as part number 8v1859409R if it matters.

Edit 3: I m getting some weird errors attached the log

Edit4: If I m helping, if I only adjust the mirror on drivers position or if I put it on the heating position everything works ok, if I switch it on the folding position, then after this nothing works no matter where I switch it unless I switch of and on the car.

Finally got a replacement pair of mirrors and everything worked nicely after all:)
Only issue is that the option on the mmi never appeared although everything is working correctly, either with the switch or with the folding happening when locking the car.
Any ideas?

Followed this guide today . Massive Thanks to all the contributers. Mirrors working as should . I've come across a problem on some of the coding in 09 module I couldn't see the last coding option (2 -Menuesteuerung komfortbedienung.... )
5f module I foolishly put the wrong security access ( small letter instead of capital ) it popped up incorrect access code and now it dosnt do anything when I put the right code in . Any ideas ?
