With summer coming, a friend of mine also wanted her car detailed. In short this is a 09 plate a3 in white plagued with swirl marks, the paint work looked dull and lifeless and there certainly wasn't any 'wow' factor to the looks. Being an Audi it has extremely tough paint yet it seems so easy to scratch.. Through experience I found either the L.C compounding pad or better the L.C foamed wool pads do an amazing correction job with a heavy cutting compound (Meguiar's M105). Both pads I've used finished down well enough to omit a finishing polish step. Some areas I had to go over twice to achieve the results I wanted.

Car was first washed, treated with iron-x on the wheels AND body, rinsed, then treated with tar remover on the wheels AND body and then lightly wiped off with a damp microfiber cloth. the whole car was then rinsed again and clay bar'd with some detailing lube (I mixed 50:50 shampoo and snow foam solution just to be creative in a spray bottle and topped this up with water), worked fine. At this stage, the clay bar wasn't actually that dirty because most of the contaminants were removed by the chemicals beforehand.

Car was then ready for the polishing stage, all conducted indoors.

Enough waffling, photos to follow:

If you ever thought about trying this out yourself, i'd highly recommend the Lake Country Purple foamed wool pad or L.C Heavy cutting hydrotech Cyan foam pads with M105, it works perfectly on Hard paint - period!

Time to put my feet up..
