a4 1.8tfsi engine

my mate has an 2008 audi a4 1.8 tfsi, now his engine has gone and we want to get it replaced. now will a newer year of the a4 same 1.8 engine be a plug and play?

also is there another engine worth putting in like the 2.0? which one would recommend for power or economy?

What happened it mate? Was it oil consumption? Check thread on oil consumption as Audi starting to fix these free of charge.
