Hi all
I currently have 2013 A4 Avant black edition which has B&O fitted. About a month ago I was away for a few days and the wife was driving the car and she likes to play it loud, like up at nearly 30 whereas I tend to go to about 22 max. Anyway she picked me up at the airport and said there is something wrong with the car stereo as playing any kind of music through it from any source resulting in what sounded like popping/flapping/crackling come from some of the speakers.
I took it to a local ICE specialist who advised take it to Audi so I paid £130 for the privilege of local Audi dealer hooking it up to diagnostics and I then got a call later that day from the service centre to say it would be £6600 to fix! I eventually got to speak to the technician who told me the message hadn't been relayed back to me correctly and that what happened when they hooked the diagnostics up the SVM was saying the wrong 5F was fitted which explained that the MMI in the car wasn't the correct one which completely threw me as the car has had 3 previous owners to me and I'm pretty certain none of them would ever have swapped out the MMI and its been working fine in the almost 3 years that I've had the car and looks identical to the MMI that an B8.5 should have in it.
Anyway the technician explained that he has to tell me what the the diagnostics machine was telling him however it was clear that both front bass speakers in driver and passenger side door weren't working correctly and would need replaced and he thinks it "should" fix the issue but he has to cover his back in case i fork out £550 for these replacements and the issue is still there.
I did go back to the local ICE specialist after car had been at Audi who said they wouldnt replace these speakers and would replace the whole system including the amp at cost of £1k as sometimes replacing speakers only can cause the amp to go faulty and burning out speaker coils?
Has anyone a bit more tech savvy than me experienced this issue before and if so did replacing the 2 front bass speakers fix it?
Thanks in advance for any advice before I shell out to get these fixed (hopefully....)
