A4 b5 avant roof bars removal

Hi there am thinking about removing the bars from the roof just to see what it looks like what's the best way also once removed what will I end up with on the roof holes etc

Have to remove the roof lining which I’ve been told is a nightmare because it’s hard plastic liner behind the fabric, and it’s really awkward so I’ve been told to get at the clips that hold it up. I wanted to know how to get it off so I could see if my leak was coming through roof bar holes but I’ve not got round to it yet.

My old 1.6 avant didn't have them and it looked a bit naff to be honest. I wanted to retrofit them but sold the car and got my saloon after the need for an estate went. Would post a pic but Photobucket have broken the Internet
