Hi all new here is my A4 Dynamik done a couple of bits here and there it being the 2.0tfsi it's had the oil consumption recall done and I've done other visual mods to it.
It also has a custom cat back exhaust aswell as a revo induction kit just waiting for a remap and I'll be happy

Hi Adam, I'm about to buy one now in 2019 - will Audi still cover this oil consumption issue?
I had the same concerns when I bought mine a few months ago, but after doing lots of research, I'm pretty confident they will. I contacted Audi HQ about my concerns, and they told me to take it in for an oil consumption test and then they can take it from there. I don't think they'll stop fixing the affected engines when they've done so many already. Has it got a full Audi service history, as that helps? If it does then make sure you keep those up, as it smooths the wheels if you do have the problem. Audi are pretty good tbh, and you'll only read comments from people that have had the problem. There are lots of engines in the range that are OK (I think it was a bad batch). You'll see within the first few hundred miles whether it's consuming too much oil by keeping an eye on the MMI. Mine uses quite a bit of oil but it's still within the permitted tolerance, as dictated by Audi. Just keep a litre of oil in the boot and top up when it's getting low. How many miles has the car done? If it's done quite a few and it's not had the oil consumption problem by now then you might be fine. Mine's only done 30K so I think there's a chance the consumption could get worse, as it's not far off. I've already had a full service at Audi and I'll keep that up, which will make it easier if the time comes. I have faith that Audi will resolve the issue though, since it's so well known now, and you can provide them with so much evidence of them fixing the problem for other people. It will be hard for them to say No.

I was driving on the motorway, 75mph with the cruise on. Engine management light started flashing, then the EPC light lit up. Car started to judder and lose power. Pulled over and got recovered and the car is now at a German specialist in Derby.
Suprisingly, the initial diagnostics didn't throw up any error codes however they think it may be an injector(s) issue.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Hi Nick,
That's really bad luck. Sorry to hear this. Did you buy privately or from a garage? It does sound like an injector problem, which is a common problem apparently. If it is, and you don't have any warranty, then definitely do your research as it can be a costly fix.

I bought it from a dealer so has come with warranty. Quite a reputable dealer too and so far they have been great.
Have spoken with the garage and they are going to give me the diagnosis later today so will revert back.

Not a great start to your new adventure, but you're lucky this has happened within your warranty period, so the dealer should cover the repairs. It's always wise to buy from a reputable dealer, especially with performance cars. Anyway, we'll keep our fingers crossed for a good result on this, and hopefully, you'll be able to put this behind you soon and enjoy the car again
Turns out the issue was a leaking injector after all.
Replaced injector, all 4 spark plugs, new oil and filter.
Fingers crossed its running great now so all good in the end!

I had the same headache when I bought mine. I use Shell Helix HX8 ECT 5w-30 Fully Synthetic, as that's what Audi use in their servicing now, and that's what they recommend. I get it from Opie Oils, as they're generally the cheapest (unless you can get a deal elsewhere). You should be OK with any 5W30 oil that has a specification of VW 504 00 though.
I think if you're changing every 6000 miles then you can also get away with VW 502 00 specification. You can use a variety of viscosities for 502 specification (0W30, 0W40, 5W30, 5W40, 10W30, and 10W40). It should tell you in your handbook as there are two types of servicing - Long Life (504) and Inspection (502, or 504). I used Millers Nanodrive in my BMW and it's a really good oil and very well reviewed (Millers Oils NANODRIVE EE LongLife 5w-30 Full Synthetic). You can get it from Opie Oils via eBay (or go straight to their site).

I have been reading the comments on the oil consumption issue. Are there any tell-tale signs that a fix has already taken place?
If not, I think I'm also going to contact Audi and take the test as it definitely doesn't sound good for the engine over time.

Audi should have a record of the work if it's been done by an Audi garage. They're really helpful if you contact HQ. I called them about the first Dynamik I looked at to ask them if it had had the fix, but they said they don't have any record of it. That's not to say it's not been done by an Indy garage though, but most people have gone through Audi, for obvious reasons. I think Nottingham Audi quoted me 85 for the test, and you get a free car wash too. Obviously they don't want their cars looking dirty, so make sure you take your car to Audi if it's ready for a wash.
I decided not to go for it and just keep an eye on the MMI. I'm sure you've read loads about it already, as I did at the start, but the MMI shows one litre. When it's topped up, you can see how many miles you get out of half a litre. It's not the most accurate reader but it gives you an idea if you're burning a lot of oil. Mine is using just within the accepted level at the moment. I did get Audi to check my MMI to make sure it's working OK, after buying a dipstick for the wrong model. One dipstick to another. Anyway, it was a free check, and perfect timing for a free car wash too. But if you want peace of mind, 85 isn't too bad I guess. I'd give Audi a quick call though to see if they have a record of it, or you can contact them through their site. I've stopped worrying about it now and I'll just deal with it if the problem arises. The anxiety from spending hours reading up on it was becoming too much to bear

I contacted Audi HQ and they have been helpful. I have the car booked in for the check on 25th July. They couldn't tell me anything about past work yet as I'm not registered on their system as the new owner - but will get that sorted.
I think it is using too much oil.
The oil was fully topped up approximately 150miles ago and has moved one notch on the MMI already.
Surely that's not normal?

Sorry for the delay in replying. I've been overseas with work. Good luck with getting Audi to assign you as the new owner. I was told by Audi HQ that the dealer had to do it. On both occasions when I've asked the dealer to do it, they couldn't work out how to do it. Hopefully you have better luck.
So the factory oil consumption tolerance from Audi is half a litre of oil per 1000KM (~621 miles). I'm not sure what a notch equates to, but it does sound like you're consuming a fair bit of oil. It may well be within tolerance though, as these engines are thirsty beasts. You might have a better idea when your MMI is at the half-way mark. If you've not managed to do 620 miles before it hits that mark, then a fix might be required. Sometimes the MMI can go up and down I've found, so make sure you check it under the proper conditions (as described in the manual). Basically, make sure you're on a flat surface, then turn the engine off after it's been warmed up (10 minute drive should do it). Turn the ignition back on (but not the engine), and then wait at least 2 mins before doing the MMI oil check.

They have been reasonably amiable so far so I'll see how they are when I visit them at the dealership.
Funnily enough, since I posted last, the oil level on the MMI hasn't moved actually. Still going to have it checked out though for piece of mind.
I have been scouting fuel additives. The car has been well looked after, now done 84K and I was thinking of giving it a treatment to clear everything out, possibly injector cleaner. Have you used any of these? Recommend any?
Also, an update on the MPG.....
I've just refilled, car had done 320miles and had 55mikes left in the tank... Approximately 30MPG. That is taking it really steady though! What do you manage out of yours?

Ah, so you may well be OK. As you say though, it doesn't hurt to get it checked out. I'm keeping an eye on my oil level, but it seems OK at the moment. I'll be interested to hear the results of the test, and I'm sure Audi will be amiable, as they like to keep their customers. I think worst-case scenario is that they may ask you for a contribution if the fix is required, so I've read, but that may have been in the early days before the floodgates opened. If it's had its proper servicing, either through Audi or an Audi specialist, then all the better, as it gives them less wiggle room.
I haven't tracked my MPG yet, but I'll make a note to. I guess I'm just happy that I'm not filling up as much as I was with my previous car, which was a 3 litre. Hi Nick,
You would think that buying a dipstick for a car is a piece of cake. Not so for some models of Audi, as I'm sure you've realised. Don't make the same mistake that I made with buying one off eBay, regardless of their fitment details. So I asked at the dealership, and the Audi technician said, "No dipstick. Use MMI". I got him to check that my MMI was working correctly, as I was concerned at the amount of oil it was using (compared to previous cars), and he said it's working fine.
Anyway, I think your best bet is to purchase a Sealey dipstick, like so:

Basically, for the 2.0 TFSI, set the ring adjustor to 39, and the lower scale to 24.

So I got around 410 miles out of a full tank. 3/4 of the distance was motorway driving (70-80mph), and the rest was urban travel. I might have accidentally floored it a couple of times on the motorway, but it wasn't sustained (i.e., short bursts). The fuel consumption is pretty much what I expected.

Also, this time of the year I start missing heated seats, anyone done a retrofit and if so who have you used and costs please?
I also seem to recall seeing a thread which mentioned a bespoke exhaust and remap place in Basingstoke which was very reasonably - any ideas?
Also, any quick shifts done?

Maybe, but I think it will mainly make the car look a bit better. I had them on my B7 and it had spacers (and various other mods) and it handled way better than standard. I was thinking with the Dynamik already being lower I might get a similar impact.

I need to replace 2 ignition coils and spark plugs on my Dynamik.
It's the 2011 2 litre tfsi.
My question is are these easily accessible? The garage wants to charge high labour cost for what I would imagine would be a straight forward job.
Would really appreciate any feedback.

Simple enough job, well worth giving it a go yourself if you're comfortable.

Having owned a Dynamik myself, they are a great car but you MUST make sure its had the Oil consumption fix done on it otherwise your heading for a whole heap of trouble. It needs about 5k worth of pistons /conrods the lot otherwise you'll be topping up litres of oil every 600miles.
