Hi everyone I've been sensible and swapped my s3 8l for a lovely a4 2.5 v6 Quattro avant , today it's started to judder when I'm stationary and turning right for example as I pull away it judders but if I were stationary and going straight it doesn't do it ? Can anyone please help !!!

Thanks in advance people !

Seems very common that when turning with a quattro from a standstill, some will judder and others won't. All of mine have juddered and so does my Father's S8.

So I shouldn't be worried ? Does it make a difference it being and auto ? Must say this one has good tyres on too so could be contributing I suppose .

Mine has always done this too, especially when cornering from stand still, also very slightly when accelerating hard in 1st. My old defender does it when cornering with the diffs locked or when creeping along riding the clutch.

In fact I returned my a4 to the dealer about a week after buying it to have it checked, he paid for it to be checked out at my local audi specialist and they said it's perfectly normal, the majority of quatts do it apparently.

Be nice to know why though, it feels almost like there is a bit of play in the diff, maybe it's just slightly worn pinion/ring gear knocking as they engage?

I had a similar problem on my Jeep Grand Cherokee due to the non slip pads in the rear diff becoming dry and therefore "not" slipping. Not sure whether it's similar on an Audi but on my Jeep you had to add a special "non-slip" additive to the rear diff oil every major service.
Might be worth changing the diff oil as a precaution ... ? Seems odd that Audi would design a judder into the car....... ??

mine doesn't judder at all. I wouldn't accept any kind of judder as "normal". As above i'd try changing the oil in the diff first.

Like greeny's mine doesn't judder either. If it did I would want to get it sorted as it should run nice and smooth when pulling away. As already said try a oil change and I'd check the rear diff mount aswell.

I had my diff and gearbox oil changed a few days back, mine still does it

If the diff plates or bearings have already suffered damage, new oil won't cure the rumble but hopefully should stop it getting worse....depending on the cause. My Jeep required a complete diff rebuild with new bearings throughout and new limited slip plates. If it's a common issue with Quattros, someone on here should be able to advise likely cause and solution.. ?

Sorry for hijacking, Tom2 how much did you pay to change your diff/oil?

Wheel bearings would have been my first assumption, I'm not very knowlegable on quattro's though.

Hi
I also have a Quattro and mine does the same. Thinking of getting my gearbox and diff oil changed. What oil do I need?
