A6 2.0tdi parking brake malfunction

Hi all. My 54 plate a6 won't let me take the parking brake off. It's flashing up malfunction and red light flashing on button. You can hear the motors trying to work but won't release. Any help welcome.

Find someone near you with vcds to scan it. look in the vcds users map to see who is near you.

Eventually managed to get my parking brake off but dash still showing error message. Going to find someone with a computer who can plug in and check fault codes.
