So had my A6 for a short period of time and then one day at 30mph the limp mode engine management light on kicked in, switch off and back on again worked for a day or two but only for a short period.

Car went to Audi specialist and diagnosed turbo issues, turbo was sent off for reconditioning, new diaphragm on the manual turbo, new worm drive as it was broken on the electronic turbo.

Picked it up and it just doesn't feel right, pick up from junctions there is a lag which is really noticeable after a stop/start take off.

This has been an expensive rebuild but it's still not right - I have seen a few issues with these turbos online, new ones fitted by Audi at £6k etc but is this a bubbling problem or what have others experienced? Car has now been at the garage a month!!!

Electric turbo?! You sure, not talking the actuator.
Not heard of that, bitdis run sequential exhaust driven ones, unless I’m special lol

Hi

Yes correct - just quoting how it was stated to me to keep it non technical apparently

I’ve heard about this one shot to get it right but thought having wholle unit replaced / reconditioned eliminates this need and tested on bench ?

Possibly the preload on the actuator
And the electric actuator will need adapting - I’d imagine both actuators need setting up properly

If you’ve had you units reconditioned, then they will, almost certain need setting up

If you bought two new turbos, with actuators attached, genu8ne, from Audi, then they should be a bolt on affair - with a cursory check with VCDS to make sure everything is as it could be

Hi

It was tested on bench, and I took it back they didn't really do anything except run a complete check on the software and about 60 miles of test driving, fair play to them they wanted it to be right. It's now back in my hands and fingers crossed I will see how I get on.
