A6 C5 2.5tdi V6 cut out won't start

Hi,

My 2001 2.5 v6 quattro cut out on the motorway and had to be recovered.
Glow plug light started flashing and it cut out through lack of fuel (I could feel it resisting before it cut out) I'm looking into the relay first and found it has a 202 glow plug relay instead of the 372 fuel relay but I've read these are notorious for fuel pumps, am I wasting my time with the relay or could this be the problem.

Check the timing of the injection pump. Do you have the option to scan for fault codes?

Yeah the fault code is 01441

01441 Low Fuel Level Sensor (G210)
This sensor is located inside the diesel fuel tank. Its job is to shut down the engine when the diesel fuel in the tank runs out
