A6 c6 3.0tdi auto oil leak

Hi all, A6 c6 3.0tdi quite bad oil leak from main seal, from bottom and top( I think as it is also wet), is there any other ways to stop it leakinf except taking engine/gearbox out? Been quotes 1k for engine out and £500/600 for gearbox do you think this is fair price? Thanks

Tbh considering the work it's quite reasonable, not a bill I'd want tbh.

Hello!

Sadly You need to remove the gearbox. If the oil leaking will be stronger , the oil is kill the propshaft bearing( the rubber dont love the oil)

Yeah, as I'm aware by now, most likely it is rear crankshaft seal leaking, so deffo gearbox out
