hi

i have recently bought an 2007 A6 3.0 TDi quattro S line
im very happy with the car so far
but the suspension is to harsh

im thinking of changing the shocks

any ideas on what i should go for

would i have to change the springs as well

Heard good things about Koni FSD shock absorbers. If your going to change them, don't bother with OEM. Wouldn't say you need to change the springs too, but you can get a set of lowering springs for about £250 so might be worth doing it at the same time as the shocks.

what sized wheels are on the car.
if 19's have you considered 18's or even 17's

Hi thanks for both of your replies

I have 19s
from my past experience
Changing 17s to 19s on a merc e class
there was not that much difference in the ride so I think I'm gona go down the suspension route

Surely that's the point of an S-line?

I test drove both SE & S-line and opted for the SE as 'softer'

Compared to other German saloons sport models
it is excessively harsh
I bought it for the sport seats & subtle S line looks
but want to opt out of the roller skate ride

Personally I think you need to change your wheels to a smaller size. Changing your suspension to a softer setting will not make much of a difference when you have 19"s.

in this case you can't have our cake I.e. the looks, and eat it I.e. a soft ride.

i had an M3 before, it had 19"s and it felt like a go kart. 18" wheels made it noticeably softer.

my 2 pence.

Hi duggy

Thanks for your advice
i have all ready purchased std shocks
i am waiting for them to be fitted
if that fails I will have to consider the wheel option
but I do like the look with 19s so hope I don't have to

Hi guys

i bought a set of shocks from eBay
just standard ones
and they have improved the ride
It's still has firm sporty suspension
but when you hit bumps & pot holes
the shocks do there job

i would recommend std shocks on A6 S lines
