Facelift ACC on Facelift car

Hi all,

Can anyone with ACC on a Facelift model confirm something for me? Is the menu in the MMI to set the default distance still required to be unlocked by a dealer? If so, is there anything in the manual about it? The PFL cars had a note in there saying that an Audi centre could unlock the menu on request, or something like that, but I've asked about it for my new car and they don't seem to know what I'm talking about.

You can select five different distance settings on the stalk, and the drive select menu gives you comfort, auto, and dynamic modes for ACC that appear to determine how gently or aggressively it brakes and accelerates.

I had a mate unlock it using his OBDEleven. Can be done. I've set it to default to 2 distances.

I don't believe it's via the MMI menu.

It's via VAGCOM or OBDEleven type tools.

I haven't done it, but know people who have. As czappa says it changes the default from 5 when switched on, to whatever value you choose.

It puts it in the menu under driver assist.

Ah, so the VAGCom mod puts the ACC selection onto the MMI screen?

Ah, so the same as the PFL then, with the addition of the 'store last setting' option.

Would anyone mind posting what it says in the manual about this, perhaps a photo, so I can get back to my dealers? I know that my own manual for the pre facelift has a block of text in there about getting the menu activated at an Audi centre, is that still in the new manual?

I had the ACC menu and setting 1 added my current PFL car shortly after I first had it and this was done by my dealer's workshop during an open evening. The current FL Owner's Manual no longer mentions this and I assume it will be available via the MMI as standard with the ability to set all 5 distances. There is also a note to says Your personal settings (for the ACC) are stored automatically and assigned to the remote control key which is being used.

Buy an OBD 11 and do it yourself man. Best 80 bucks you'll spend. Get the pro.

Yep, I'll be doing that. Derby Audi are refusing to touch it basically - they say it'll make them liable if I have an accident or something. If the bit of text is gone from the manual that says any Audi centre can unlock it, not a lot I can do really.

You can do pretty much do everything. There are apps that are a one click solution, but with coding you can change virtually everything. I added in the lock/unlock sound, traffic sign recognition, the default distance and few other things, but as time goes on and people experiment and share their results, the mods increase.

Planning on getting it in there via VCDS...

Let us know how you get on. I have VCDS and a cable at the moment but the cable would not work with my wife's previous A1 or her current VW Polo which meant we had to go to a 'specialist' garage to get the Start/Stop switched off.

I have the HEX-NET VCDS. Can use either a mobile app or any mobile browser to use VCDS - Mobile. No laptop required any more.

Connects in infrastructure mode to your WiFi (including mobile hot spot), or Access Point mode to create it's own WiFi network which you can then join with you mobile (or laptop).

Full laptop VCDS on Windows can also still be used, and can be via WiFi also (or old USB), so you still have mobility.
Excellent for easy scanning/coding, especially when not at home.

I do have an old android phone come to think of it - might be a silly question but does it need to have a sim card in it? Or can I download the app over wifi and that would be good enough or do I need the sim card in to use Bluetooth anyway etc?

As long as you have wifi it should be all good. I only ever use it in the garage and my home wifi reaches there.
