A work colleague is about to buy a B5 saloon with the BOSE setup - 4 door speakers and the BOSE 'subs' in the rear shelf. He tells me the stereo sounded ok but not enough bass for him.
I thought the easiest option for him might be the addition of an aftermarket HU with a built in high pass filter set at say 80htz or so so nothing but 80htz and above goes through the BOSE system including their 'subs', and a larger amp/sub run from the sub pre-out of the new HU to work down from 80htz?
Has anyone done similar and if so how did it sound?
Does anyone know the frequency ranges the standard BOSE amp sends to all the speakers?
