Why does everyone get their knickers in a twist when an insurance company won't cover you for this or that?
There's like hundreds of insurance companies out there, and one will come good, no point slating the one that didn't deliver?!
I stand by this, that comparison sites like gocompare, supermoneymarket etc .com are good for standard cars, and for modified cars, go with specialists like the forum sponsors who offer modified schemes for our members.
For my S3 specifically, I've used greenlight, adrianflux(was with these guys last 5 years in a row, 36yrs of age, 14yrs ncb, clean license, and they couldn't price match to keep me!) and prestige(who I'm with now) in the last 9 years.
My other half's standard Rav4, which I insure anyways, I used comparison sites, where the existing insurer can't/won't price match a better quote I managed to find.
My experience with Admiral was they can cater for upto 25% over standard power, so if your car is a 100bhp car, then a 30bhp increase is a no, but if you have a 200bhp car, then a 50bhp increase is acceptable. They have called me up to offer multi car policy, as I state I have 4 cars on my drive during the quote process. I told them 3 of them are modified, and they soon change their tune over the phone, so I move on. Simples.
