Hi guys, I created a thread in the A3 section (https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threa...ched-door-and-alloy-wheel-west-london.423943/) but didn't get many replies. Keen to get some consensus on the way forward.
I'm in West London. I've only had my Audi A3 S line 2018 Cosmos Blue for 2 weeks and this week at the supermarket someone had scratched the passenger side front door. Naturally I was very annoyed and when I came home I must have had a lapse in concentration and ended up scratching the passenger side rear alloy wheel against the kerb, which ****** me off even more.
door - there’s a horizontal line above the door handle, just below the window. It’s not particularly deep and only about 15cm long. It looks like it's gone through the clear coat as I can put my nail in it.
wheel - there are a few scuffs on the wheel, again not particularly deep but very annoying.

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to repairing this sort of thing. The car was in immaculate condition (apparently there were some minor scratches on a couple of the Alloy wheels but they were smart repaired by a guy that the Audi dealer uses) when I bought with no scuffs anywhere on the body so this has been hugely frustrating.
I rang the Audi dealer (Bury St Edmunds) and spoke to the sales exec who sold the car to me, for advice. He said they use a few local independents for minor repairs and it's worth asking my local Audi dealer to see if they'd recommend anyone.
I rang West London Audi (only 2 mins up the road from me) to find out if they would recommend anyone. They said they have their own repair centre so asked me to bring the car. I took the car to them a couple of days ago. The guy looked at the car reckons the whole door needs to be resprayed and the rear door also needs to be blended in. He reckons it's going to cost £700+VAT. He also quoted £135+VAT for the alloy wheel. Reckons it needs to be diamond cut.
I've also rung a couple of smart repair guys. The West London technician for Revive! quoted £150 (cash) to repair the door. The other guy (Micropaint) also quoted £150. Both reckons the door needs to be resprayed (not the whole door but smart repair).
For the alloy wheel, I rang a mobile wheel repairer called Xpress Alloys London. The gent I spoke to said that it's not possible use diamond cutting on my alloy (something about Audi Alloys) but he could repair the damage and respray for £50+VAT.
All of those companies seem to have good reviews on Google.
After buying the car, money is a bit tight at the moment so can’t afford to spend a lot of money but at the same time I want the repairs to the door and the alloy wheel to look good and long lasting.
In the previous thread, one of the guys said, smart repair would be very noticeable and asked me try using filler polisher like Autoglym super resin, first. He reckons it will make the scratch a lot better.
What do you guys recommend I do? Is smart repair on the door a bad idea? What about the wheel? Are there any companies/people you recommend in London ? Ideally near West London/Brentford area.
Any advice is much appreciated.
