First time poster and hoping someone may be able to help with a bizarre issue that’s cropped up on my 2018 a5 sport back, 3yrs and 3 months old so just out of warranty !

The air fans in the car work fine when either got or cold air is selected, however, as soon as you select AC, whether ‘on’ or ‘eco’, the air stops flowing.

It’s not that the air isn’t cold, it just stops coming out.

Can still hear the motor working behind the dash and it gets louder as you increase the air speed but no air comes out the vents - it almost feels like the air is being redirected somewhere other than the vents.

Local Audi centre seem to be end of the month before they can even look at it so any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like either a flap or motor is stuck or faulty, it needs defaulting on the hvac 08 module, see if this resets movement.

Thanks for the quick response, much appreciated.

I’m guessing that this is something which I’d need a dealer or specialist to look at? Not something which I could default?

If default doesn’t work, potentially a big job?

Would be hoping for a bit of goodwill from dealer given car has been Audi approved serviced since new and also got them to do the first MOT when car hit 3 years old

Chris did you have any joy getting to the bottom of this?
My 2019 A5 is doing exactly the same and a month out of warranty.

I have found that switching the engine on and off seems to sometimes trick it back into working.

That sounds like the servos aren't resetting properly. It could be software related or a fault with the aircon control unit.

I think your right right mate, turned the car on earlier and it worked 30 seconds then it stopped.
Waiting to get my hands on vcds to scan the car and see if any faults appear. Refusing to take it to the stealers as
The car is going back
In September.

Hi all,

Strangely I was having the exact same problem on my 2017 S5 - in that the AC would stop air flow through the vents, it was very intermittent in the sense it would sometimes work and sometimes not, more often it would pack up when you needed it most!

I used CARISTA plug in diagnostic and reset the recirculation function on it a couple of times, seems to have done the trick, although i'm not confident it will remain that way... anyone else had success by doing this?

There is a slight catch tho, my diagnostic results still show errors with the AC module - but seems to be working fine now, what to do??!
