I got a price of 4 alloys powder coated today. That's a drive in and out service at The Wheel Specialist.
£382 which I thought was really pricey.

I really want them doing but cant justify that money. Can anyone recommend a Manchester based firm?

Ive posted in this section as there is no specific section.

No, Manchester. They are a franchise.

Christ yeah that is pricey, I got mine done this week at £40 a wheel, refurb & whole alloy power coated, Took them a day and a half.
Christ, that's a good price for a powder coat, my local alloy specialist charges £45 for just the face (not even powder coat) - more details please.

https://www.facebook.com/aerocoatea/ OR http://www.aerocoat.co.uk/ - It was £40 cash each, just have to have the tyres removed. They're in norfolk but do collection/delivery up to suffolk, It's £40 for standard colours, chromes etc, and then if you want fancy stuff like the sparkly paints in multiple colours, so outer rim green inner rim red for example in a fancy coat it's like £60.

I'm sure they could arrange something if you was to send them via a courier, but you know you need to weigh up the price including courier, tyre removal and fitting etc.

They even did my Centre caps for free.

try wrc wheel refurbs in preston. I've never found any one yet that does as good a finish as they do. They can diamond cut as well.

That's very pricey.

Try platinum coatings in Trafford Park, Manchester.

They charge £200 for all 4 alloys.

Same day service

Yeh I got it booked in for Saturday.

I paid the wheel spec that when I had mine done, the finish was flawless so in my eyes money well spent, I had to pay it for a top job, just like the place that are resprayinf my car, thousands but I know it will be perfect so in my eyes worth it

I had mine refurbed at Platinum coatings at the weekend. Powder coated and done in the day.
The finish is excellent although not perfect as there is the odd imperfection but for £200 it's a bargain and best £200 I've spent in ages.
I would deffo recommend them.

Have you got any pic's of the finished wheels ?

No but if you want to pm me your email I'll send you some pics no problem.

Update. 9 months on two of the alloys developed an unusual spider web type cracking on the surface. After numerous emails/ calls they agreed to rectify the issue but they were adamant this was the first issue they had ever had.
Alloys dropped off but this time turnaround was 2 days which caused issues as they said it would be within the day.
On collection I could see straight away the finish wasn't great. Numerous minor marks as though dust spots were under the surface and also tiny crator type indentations. No apology or explanation given.
At the end of the day you get what you pay for (£200), shocking customer service, and a Friday afternoon finish. Lesson learnt. What suprises me is the amount of good reviews they get and the high quality cars they have in there. Perhaps I'm just unlucky and I got the appprentice working on mine.
I have used the wheel specialist before in Openshaw and their finish was flawless and they appear completely trustworthy but then it's £360 for 4 alloys.
I wouldn't recommend Platinum coatings to a car enthusiast but a farmer or JCB driver yes.

Have you any pics? what colour did you get them done? I used Wheelrite in Chorley nearly 2 years ago and had my others done in shadow chrome, paid £240 for al 4 (left them for a few days though) and the finish was excellent apart from a couple of fine lines appearing across the spokes

They're on ebay at the minute but two pics show the fine lines. I don't know how or where they came from because they definitely didn't "touch" anything (apart from the damage on one alloy which is nothing to do with their work!)

I had them done in Silver, standard colour.
None on the Internet but if anyone is interested I can send them through.
Is it still a case of using a image hosting site to put pics on forums ?

should be an option to "upload an image" below, next to the "Post Reply" button..?

there is a place in Newmachar which is outside Aberdeen Scotland called custom coatings who do refurb and powder coating for £250 and that includes wheels off on + balance and thay have some array off colours . if you really fancy seeing a lovely Audi wrapped check out this link and go to project 2017 ( http://www.customisedcoatings.co.uk/ ) and tell me you dont like the colour , well i think it is one Audi should think about as it is awesome

These hairline cracks are under the surface and can't be felt. It happened to both front alloys.

I thought £382 wasn't a bad price lol. Must get ripped off down south then

that to me looks like the paint got hot under breaking and cracked underneath the clear coat which clearly expanded enough not to crack as well.
You mean braking ?
Yeh that's possible but I don't drive/brake hard. The company refurb many high performance cars so surely others have had issues if your theory is correct.

Some pics of the alloys once they had corrected the cracks. Not great I'm sure most would agree.

So in the same boat as you Bob R. I need all 4 wheels doing and i live in east manchester. Wheel specialist is 384 quid and trafford park crowd is 200 quid. Anyone suggest anyone else ? Prestige wheels in stockport ? I am waiting on N8 but no reply from him as yet. Also considering APC in Gorton.

I will input my preference once again but Nate Kowalski of Kowalski details is frankly the best for any job period! One stop for all your needs. Don't trust me, just see his Facebook or just drive over and see his work

I enquired at Prestige wheels a few years ago. They were dear, around £400 and it was 3 day turnaround. I found they had a sh1t customer service too.
Diamond wheels in Stockport once made an abortion of some alloys. Never again.

Getting N8 to do mine at kowalski. Comes highly recommended. Dropping them off on Wednesday. Will let you know how I get on

+1 great work

several cars at my work have had their alloys done by them

You seen the pics above ?

That would be a no haha

Like i said several current cars at work had them done at this place and none of those had issues past or present - hence the +1

If anyone is near to Barnsley/South Yorkshire, I recommend KTS Refinishing. £40 a corner and a great finish. I bought an extra wheel so that if I mark one I just drop off the spare and pick it up when ready. Not worth bothering about for £40.
