Hi all

I recently did some damage do my left hand side alloys :-( They've been badly damaged by the kerb, I've had them refurbished and they've done a good job. . But I know its there and its annoying the f**k out me!

I don't know whether to leave them, buy two new identical alloys or purchase 4 new genuine S3 alloys as seen below:

Not the sharpest tool in the box when it comes to cars, but if I was to purchase 4 new wheels would it be a straight swap for mine?

I've never had any cosmetic damage to my alloy wheels (on various cars) that couldn't be made to look new by a good refurb specialist.

It sounds to me as if you're looking for an excuse to buy some S3 wheels! :think:
 
The S3 Alloys would fit no worries there

What kind of alloys do you have atm?
Put some pics up with the damage so we can take a peek!
 
They've already been refurbished now, happy with the job but when I look at them I know they've been refurbished, they just aren't quite the same if you know what I mean?!

The alloys I've got at the mo are:

How much do you think it'll cost for a new set?
 
I`m not sure how much you would have to pay for genuine S3 Alloys, bout 1k?

If you decide to sell, i`ll be the first on your list!
 
Yeah I know, thats the only problem reali, only had the car 6 months, definately got to sort it out tho so we'll see? Might ask Stoke Audi and see what they say?

You fancy all four if I do get rid of?
 
I know what I meant, you might of had a damaged one and wanted one or two of me?!

Can you think of any other Audi wheels that will look nice?
 
A new set of facelift S3 alloys from a dealer will be over £1k and for that sort of money could get some very nice aftermarket ones (bbs). Lol if they been refurbished and are not the same you should go back and get the place to do them again till there perfect mate.
 
BBS Speedlines, split rims 18s or even better 19s

These are the ones i`ve been after for ages!
 
Looks like you got a set there, how much did they set you back? Don't know why but I don't like the BBS alloys, would much rather a set of genuine alloys from Audi?!

Can't say I've seen them, they'll be 19'' though wont they?

Yeah i bought mine off my mate he only had them on his new S3 for two weeks before i bought them, cost me £400 or £450 without tyres. Ahh thats fair enough

When you mentioned them I looked on Google Images, S5 alloys are awsum, they are 19'' though aren't they?

I have asked the seller and waiting on reply but you can never be too sure?
 
No not a fan of them, I'm quite fussy when it comes to alloys!
 
Yeah thats what I thought, they are a pretty good match though!

Can't answer that one, don't really know, guess I'm just not a fan of branded alloys?!
 
For that price, I'd go for them. Even if you change your mind about them a few months down the line, you could have 3/4 different sets of wheels for the cost of one set of genuine Audi wheels.
 
Would someone mind posting up pictures of their A3 with 19" RS6 (new) alloys or the new S5 alloys please? I'm thinking of buy 19's in one of these and would appreciate a view of them on the car first!

Thanks for that. That thread is very helpful also. Im nervous about getting 19's. I think they may look to on the car, especially because i dont really wanna lower the suspension. Do you have a side profile view of the car, so i can see the wheel arches head on?

I'll ask around but i've only known of one set of S3 alloys to be on sale in Cardiff, I also want another set later in the year so have sprayed Matt Black. Or if not i'd get these S5 reps on ebay for £700 as they look like the real business! And i know this company make good reps friend bought a few alloys of them. S5 alloys are awesome mate. Only seen them on two A3 and one of them was on a member car 'GlasgowRangers' they look the business. On some reps the quality can be poor so before careful

They will be reps but from the photos they look like good reps. On some reps the quality can be poor so before careful if i was to go for reps they be £550+. But the ones in the look do look wkd. Ask him if he has any more photos so we can see if they quailty looks the same from the main picture.

Yeah if you could that would be great! Those S5 alloys certainly look need on the A3. I'm just unsure whether I prefer S5 or S6 wheels? I just don't want to make the wrong decision and regret it!

Yeah i've asked around for you today just said if any one knows of facelift S3 alloys on sale with or without tyres to let me know. S5 alloys are nice i really want a dark set like the ones in the link! Do you mean RS6 alloys? A member madluke got them on his A3 PM him or have a search there quite a few photos and they look lovely on his A3. Why dont you put some photos of your car up and ask a member nicely to photoshop them on? So you can see which is you rather?
 
Thanks, appreciate that alot! Yeah thats the ones, think I prefer them now to be honest! Yeah I think I seen them, certainly seen them on the Red S3 Sportback, they look unbelievable!

Still haven't got around to taking a picture, currently building up a shopping list (Very expensive) on Polished Bliss to give detailing a go so will take photos when complete!

The original RS4s in 19" are about £2k from Audi.

Be warned about alloys where the spokes stick out proud of the rim like those above. You kerb them you smash the spokes and re furb is not easy. I know you think, thats ok, i wont curb them but **** happens !! I just did an RS4 19" and it cost me £500. Also go for tyres with rim protectors like GY F1s. Could save you a lot of money !
 
Yeah they are nice to, want to pick up a genuine set thought to be honest! I know I always say i'll never kerb these ones but I did, wasn't really my fault mind but I did the same with other cars aswel!
 
Looks like a good choice! Suits the car and it stands out aswell! You wont be able to get genuwine RS6 alloys to fit your A3. You will havet o get some good quailty reps.
 
Im changing my alloys and cant decide which ones i want. Either RS6's or the ones in the pic below. Anyone got photos of their car fitted with the alloys on this S3 below? I might buy an 18" set and would love to see them on the car. Preferably without and suspension mods, but any photos will do!!

See this i where my knowledge of cars let me down, why wont they fit?
 
They'd be 20" diameter and the offset will be too low (so they'll stick out of the arches, rather than being in them).

BTW - The wheels on the white S3 mcconnot just posted, are standard S3 wheels.

What would be your choice then Mitch ? and do you think a split grill car needs less "modern" wheels ? Think i might change mine for the Spring if i dont change the car but it might look odd with 8p3 wheels ?!

Yeah, just looked now. . I thought they were 19''! Guess the S5 wheels are out aswel now then! Will have to settle for the S3 wheels then!

WishI had some sort of car knowledge!
