It looks very nice, and a true S-Line too (to my limited knowledge!)

As long as the timing belt and all ancillaries were done at the right time (80k for a petrol?) and you're aware of the oil sludge issue with the 1.8T you should be ok. I'd some research on the price, I'm not speaking from experience, but it doesn't strike me as cheap...
 
I'm no expert but seems a wee bit up on price for those miles. And I'd want a very comprehensive ASH with proof of a recent Cambelt change and water pump as a bonus.

1.8's suffer from the dreaded oil sludge (do a search) which seems to affect cars on the 'long life' service schedule thatn the 12 month one
 
Take it theres no way of checking this "sludge" problem unless you remove the rocker cover?

Gonna go and check out some prices :cool:

The later model Sports from 53/04 on (?) were sold with an S-Line style bodykit, principally with the deeper front valance and revised rear valance. The real S-Line's were a run out B6 model, and only available with the 1.8T 190 engine, they can be distinguished by S-Line badges on the rear doors, and S-Line aluminium kick plates on the doors (and possibly other things I don't know about!)

Just searched auto trader and thats the cheapest 1.8T 190 S-line?...
 
is it me but that looks like it sits higher than other slines...maybe its the pics??

What is your budget mate?

I thought that also? I mailed him to confirm its a S-line.
Was looking around 7-8K but would stretch to 9K pos
 
Yeah its best to double check aint it.Maybe its the way the pics have been taken but that was the first thing I noticed!

...so 9K you say....maybe a tad more for THIS or do you prefer the B6?? just a thought....and a little help :icon_thumright:

Does seem a bit high but I think most of you are used to looking at Coilovers now!

Are they new alloys or refurbed I wonder? Might explain the stance if the wheels had been off.

Could stretch to 9 so don't really want to go over that.
Think I do prefer the B6 as well.
 
Hmmm yeah could be the reason for why it sits a little higher I guess.
B6's are better looking I must admit. 9K will get you a beauty though mate so hold fire until you find the right one and even if you find one that is out of your budget, still give it a go as you never know, especially just after Xmas!!
 
Mate for 8/9k you could have mine lol ok its not an S line and is the 163 version but ive only got 65k on the clock and full audi service history!!!! that is dear for the mileage....
 
I paid £7300 for my 2004 57K miles 190 s-line quattro from a dealer (12 months tax and mot, new f1's and just serviced by basingstoke audi) and that was exactly a year ago!! i think that was a real bargain. The s-lines have half leather interiour, black headlining, 18" alloys, s-line bodykit, s- line kick plates, s-line badges on rear doors, lower (and stiffer!) suspension, 6 speed (if manual), perforated leather steering wheel. Cam belt should have been done at 60K, worth checking the waterpump was also replaced as can fail. Longlife servicing ok as long as oil changed inbetween ( ideally every 5 - 6 K) always use fully synthetic longlife oil to the correct audi spec. I use the vag quantum longlife 3 and the bigger oil filter.

Only cause it's pretty much exactly what I'm after I got a bit excited. Don't want to be paying more than I should though

It's down to you really mate and what you are prepared to pay for what you want. You can gauge from the posts above that its over and above what you should be looking at paying but how long will you have to wait to find the same again but cheaper?

It would all swing for me on the Service history. If it hasn't got regular dealer stamps with independent specialist interim stamps I would walk away as you dont know who's had it and whats been in it fluid wise. If it has got all the stamps but no Cam change evidence I would go in haggling hard and not want to pay more than £7.3k.

Its a buyers market now, especially so at this time of year given the current financial climate - so as said be prepared to haggle hard, and hard as it is walk away for a few days if needs be.

At the end of the day, if its 'pretty much exactly' what your after and you are happy with the overall condition and spec then start negotiating with the seller...go in at 7k cash and see what he says, i'm afraid you've got to be cheeky even if its not what you like doing, at the end of the day he'll say no and come back at you with a price that he wants, then away you go again lol its good fun :)

Cheeky and haggling is what im good at. Got £1200 of "extras" when buying my Integra. Salesman was getting really ****** off with me.

Cant hurt to go and have a look
 
Didnt get round to seeing that car.
Did test drive a 3.0 sport which I thought was a really nice drive... took me months to decide which variant to get and now im stuck again...
