Fitted A1 Armrest yesterday - Parts for facelift MK1 are different here are the parts I used for my 2018:

8X0 864 245 C T29 (ARMREST LEATHERETTE)
****choose one of the above - both same cost****
8X0 864 207 6PS (LOWER PART)
8X0 864 279 6PS (LEFT
8X0 864 280 6PS (RIGHT)
8X0 864 376 6PS (REAR)
8X0 864 819 (SEAL)
8X0 863 416 A (INSERT FOR STORAGE COMPARTMENT)
8X0 864 283 A (MOUNTING FOR ARM REST)
N 907 988 05 (M8 HEX COLLAR NUT)
N 910 113 01 (OVAL HEX BOLT ****4 REQUIRED****)

As to the original question, Nope, almost certainly not. Although I haven't had an A3 and don't have a new A1, the Golf 7's armrest (just got rid of my Golf R) is noticeably wider than the Polo's (I have a Polo GTI+). The Golf's is the same as the A3's, and the (new) A1's is the same as the AW MK6 Polo's.
