It would appear so few owners out there. I suspect the fact that you cannot order one at the moment and very few used out there does not help.. Anyway, those that do own one, how are you finding ownership? Does it still feel special for you? Do you feel you need more power? Wish you purchased the RS4 instead, more practical?

I have just covered 5,000 miles in mine since June and it still feels like an occasion driving one, especially in dynamic mode. I had a sort of misfire just before Christmas, which appears to have cleared itself up and will take it into the dealership for closer analysis. Also finding my pano roof is creaking a bit, more so when the weather is cold.

Not done anything with it apart from some spacers and potentially looking to change over the chrome badges for black. Just be nice to hear from other owners..

I was so close to getting one then just happened on a really good deal for a 4 so did that instead. From my test drives it is a great car, looks awesome too!

Love mine. I too get the odd creak from the pano roof. I’m looking forward to some snow to see how it differs from the M6 I had last winter. I love how it looks and I love how it drives. No need to fear the backend breaking traction, just bury the throttle whenever you like.

Since I’ve lowered it and had it professionally set-up by a rally specialist the handling is unbeatable when compared with anything else I’ve driven. It was decent before but it’s jaw dropping now.

Nearly every time I check my dash cam footage I find video of people admiring it and taking photos whilst it’s parked up.

I’ve done a fair bit to mine:
New wheels
Spacers
KW Variant 3 lower kit
Dynamic mirror indicators
Audi Accessory rear lights
LED door lights
Park Assist retrofit
TCU tune

I really like the mods, suits the cars colour. Daytona is lovely when detailed :) Are you running stock power? I recall back in the summer no one had cracked these ECU’s and plug-in was the only option.. On the handling front, the guys at JF Automotive believe the RS4 handles better.. which surprised me given it was heavier..they said it was more balanced.

G

I was surprised how much the handling has been improved. I just wanted the kit for aesthetics. I’ve to go back after 300 miles for further adjustments.

Personally I’ve no interest in tuning it. Stock it destroys nearly everything on the road in wet or dry and it feels plenty fast as is. In all the years that I’ve staged-1 cars I can never honestly say I’ve felt a massive difference and I have an active personal dislike for piggy back tuning boxes anyway, which is the only option at the moment.

I have had mine over a year now and just over 20K miles today. I love it everyday I drive. If I go abroad I really miss it :)). Compared to the M4 competition I had before, this feels like it is in a different class. I honestly still dont like the nose %100 but everyone loves it. I get constant stares wherever I go. I dont know if it is a bonus or not but it shows the car is a great looker.

20k in a year, sounds like you are enjoying yours!! I get the odd stare out on the road, I suspect because you do not see them too often.. Intrigued to know how people are setting theirs up day to day. I found dynamic mode a little too harsh, especially on our local roads. Recently I have been specifying the individual mode, taking the gearbox out of dynamic, as I cannot stand the way it shifts it to 1st when you slow down.. Any other optimum modes I should be using? Anyone driving theirs on the paddles?

G

I love mine, it feels like an event every time I get in it and go through the ritual of cycling back through to Dynamic and turning the traction fully off. I was lucky to find a Carbon edition in Sonoma un-allocated in factory stock with 99% my spec just as they pulled production. It didn't have the DRC but in hindsight i'm glad after reading about the B8 Horror stories.
I came from a Rs3 which also felt special until they became really popular and you see another 4 or 5 on every trip. People pointing and staring and giving thumbs up is a bit embarrassing but the looking at dash cam and seeing folk sprawling accross the bonnet and touching it when parked up is just rude! So its a bit of be careful what you wish for as there are hardly any about ans so they get too much attention.

I've done 2000 miles since September, only put spacers on and disconnected exhaust flaps but got some TAW Chicago Carbon paddles and 034 Strut brace inbound.

Yes, the RS5 feels special.

I odered my RS5 Sportback in June and it arrived in January. It now has 1400 miles on it. I drove a B8 S4 for 2 years and a B8.5 S4 for the last 6. I would have purchased an RS4 if it was available in the states, but it's not. The RS5 Coupe was too small for my needs, but the Sportback seems to be a good compromise in space an usability with 4 doors and a hatchback. It's easily as usable as the S4 sedans that I had, if not moreso.

My B8.5 S4 had APR Stage 2 tune and was a lot more fun than the stock S4. While the RS5 has about the same horsepower, the torque is different. The RS5 is definitely faster and the acceleration is more aggressive. There is no comparison in handling, the RS5 is much better! I'm less enthusiastic about the transmission, though. The car does not respond as instantly to throttle changes unless it's in manual mode and when the RS5 shifts it lacks the finesse of the S4. Still, I'm not sure if one transmission is better than the other, or just different.

The winter weather here (Chicago) has made it more difficult to play, but I put Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 N-Spec 275/30R20 tires on it and they have been great when the roads are bad. We just went through a polar vortex and had temperatures -15 to -25 F (-26 to -32 Celsius). It creaked a bit, but so did I. Otherwise, no problems.

There were a few negative surprised when the car arrived. There is no storage space inside the car. The glove box has no usable space as it is full of media equipment, and the center console has just enough room for a cell phone and a couple of small items. There is a storage compartment by the steering wheel, but its the only place big enough to hold the car's manual. And, I lost the holder for my sunglasses. However, the really big, stupid space issue relates to the jack. There is no built-in storage location for the car's jack, so Audi placed it in a black nylon case and strapped to the luggage holders in the trunk! Really? But, with these few exceptions, the car has been great. No regrets and I can't wait to drive it every day.

Regarding color, everyone questioned my choice of colors when I ordered the car (Florett Silver with black optics), but it's what I wanted. However, after the car arrived, the folks at the dealership kept hanging out by the car and went out of their way to say how great it looked. I'm not sure there is a bad color for this car, but the silver keeps getting unsolicited praise.

Hi Dan99 - love to see some pictures. I saw one of those Doug reviews on YouTube, as he had an RS5 SB, It actually looked very nice in red with black optics. I bet your looks stunning in Florett Silver. I have not seen any SB's in the UK as yet, however seeing an RS4 or RS5 is still a rare sight..

I'll post some pics when I can get it clean long enough to do so. We're still buried in winter weather at the moment and it's impossible to keep clean. We don't see many RS cars around here either, but we do see some. Mine arrived in the first batch of RS5 Sportbacks to the states. I think the Chicago area dealers got about 30. My dealer got 17, most of which were ordered in advance. I ordered mine last June and was first on the waiting list. My only regret is that it arrived in the dead of winter - I was told to plan on a March arrival when I ordered it.

Had a break in the weather. Here's a few pics...

It hasn’t been released outside of North America.

True, at least for now. Apparently the S5 SB sold really well here, so we got the RS version first. I saw some stats that said the S5 SB sold 10:1 over the S5 Coupe. On the flip side, Avants don't sell well here so we never get them. I tried to get an RS4 last year, and even explored European delivery of one, but they only allow that for models that are imported here so it did not work.

Welcome to the very exclusive club! I used 15mm on mine all round.. however no suspension changes on mine..

Sorry no link, as I had a local company fit them. They were Bimecc hubcentric spacers 15 mm, there are plenty of decent companies out there like H&R, I liked the Bimecc as they are black and hide into the wheel.

I,ve got the 20" milled wheels and also went with 15mm all round. Don't forget that you'll need new longer wheel bolts and lockers.
I have had the odd scrape coming from the rear on fully committed undulating B-roads, especially after little jumps etc.

Got a set of H&R spacers fitted yesterday (15mm all round) and have to say I'm surprised how much it's changed the looks of the car. It looks fatter somehow but really pleased with the result. The narrow track on the stock car was something I didn't like so that now sorted I don't think I'll be doing much else to it. I might just change the badges to black. Does anyone know where to get them from in the UK? Did I see Crewe Audi doing them?
So far I've done about 500 miles and love it. The acceleration is brutal through the gears although I agree on the slight lag. Nothing major though. I tend to drive everyday pottering in comfort mode as it's less twitchy and switch to dynamic when I want to play. We have a 2 year old so space is not great in the back and I would have preffered a SB (4 doors and childen are a better combo) but not had that choice and couldn't really afford a new one when we do eventually get them here in the UK. So far so good then and coming from a 3.0 diesel A7 it's a big jump in performance. Feel like a teenager again! :racer:

Glad you are enjoying it!! The spacers do make a cosmetic difference, may help handling too.. Not sure about lag, mine has no turbo lag...plenty of torque ;)

I purchased my black Audi rings from eBay and the rest of badges from an Audi dealer, however you may get those also from eBay, around £30 a piece. The side door/bonnet badges can be replaced too, at a cool £200 for the pair! I did not bother with them..

So tell us a bit about your car, where did you purchase it and what optional extras?

G

Bought the car from Reading Audi. It's only done 7000 miles so like a new car apart from a few very small stone chips on the front splitter.

Nardo Grey
B&O 3D sound system
Comfort and sound pack
RS Sports Exhaust
Matrix LED lights
Rear view parking camera
Advanced key
Dynamic front and rear indicators
Privacy glass
Red brake calipers
Tyre pressure monitoring

That is a decent spec! The TPM is useful to get tyre temp reading!

Excuse my ignorance on spacers but do you have a link to what you used? I assume 15mm all round?

I went for these

The supplied spacer kit are actually 12mm TPI spacers. On the OEM wheels 15mm would probably be better.

I was unsure over 12mm or 15mm with some saying go for 20mm on the rear. In the end I’m glad I went for 15mm throughout as they are spot on for me with the stock wheels.

Out of interest is there and way to find the original list price of my used RS5?

Not really since it’s no longer on the Configurator.

If it helps my optional extras are as follows:

Black Styling Pack, RS Sports Exhaust, 20" Diamond Cut Alloys, Reversing Camera, Advanced Key, Bang & Olufsen, Memory Mirrors & Seats, Panoramic Roof, Carbon Mirrors, 174mph Limiter, Traffic Sign Assist, Extended LED Lighting Pack, Privacy Glass, Pearlescent paint.

List price for mine was just under £72k when I bought it new last March.

Edit:

In fact here’s the individual options cost (ex VAT). That’ll give you an idea if you add yours up plus basic list of £51408.33 and then VAT plus £525 delivery charge and £1256 1st year road tax.

I just changed the chrome rings to black and left all the 'RS5' badges chrome as I cant stomach the price of the wing badges.

The ebay front black rings are always poor in my opinion as they never have the oem long guides where the clip in and always work lose. I had two from different ebay shops at ~£25 ish.

In the end I emailed the guy from Crewe on here and the factory black front badge is a perfect fit as you'd expect and it came the next day.

What's the guys username on here from Crewe Audi? How much were the front rings in the end?
