Audi A1 1.6 Gearbox/Transmission issues?

Hello all,

I have an Audi A1 2010 1.6 (manual) which has recently developed gearbox/transmission issues.

What will happen is I will be plodding along in 3rd gear and go to change into 4th. No issues with changing gears with the gear stick, however the car will hit a false like neutral and will rev like crazy (as I accelerate expecting to be in 4th) - the dashboard will still register 3rd and then change to neutral despite being in 4th - then about 2seconds later it will register 4th on the dashboard and pick up as if it was put into gear.

This only seems to happen in 3rd changing to 4th. The gearbox doesn’t knock and all gears go in as they should.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I put it into 5th from 4th and the dashboard jumped from 3rd to 4th to 5th to 4th to 3rd etc… Never lost power just revved as I accelerated until i guess the clutch engaged itself and then it picked up again. Unfortunately I’m no mechanic Leo could be something more than a clutch.

Also since alot of people is suggesting this might be the problem, do you know if this is something thats expensive to fix?

Clutch. Turned out that I needed a new clutch. £850 for parts and labour.
