audi a3 2.0 tdi 170 engine sensor?? PICS INSIDE

Hello there is a (sensor) i think on my engine, that a plug goes onto. there is 2 wires that go into an electrical plug that plugs onto the (sensor?) and one of the wires was snapped, the electrical plug goes onto the (brown) plug which maybe a sensor? can anybody shed some light and tell me what it is please and maybe what it is for?

You got no engine lights or any issues with the car with it unplugged?

I think that is the reversing light switch. do your lights work ?
