Hi All,

Just looking for some guidance on where the below oil leak could be coming from with the under-tray removed. It's from my 2004 A4 B6 (Automatic/CVT). In the last pic I caught some of the oil/fluid to help with identification. Could it be differential fluid? The oil will tend to drip slowly once driven and stationary after a drive. The oil leak will then stop. The last pic shows how much came out after parking up.

Depending on what it is, I want to understand whether:

- the car can still be driven locally to a garage if needed without causing damage
- the oil/fluid can be easily topped up
- what oil/fluid spec would be needed

Has anyone got any recommended places I could get this seen to in London who specialises in resolving this kind of issue?

Thanks in advance.

Hi
The oil from transmissions has a strong smell to it and color wise should be obvious from that of engine oil

Does the gearbox operate normally i.e. all gears engage smoothly with no slipping if so then the loss of gear oil is minimal so should be fine to drive to a garage if slipping occurs this will cause overheating in the auto box

I should imagine if the drips of oil are straight off the bottom of the box it could well be the drain pan seal and replacing this will cure the problem

Im not from your area but a respectable independent garage should be able to rectify this issue

Pan off new seal and filter and oil around £100 parts

Obviously all riding on this being the seal

Hope this is helpful

Thanks for your input. Gearbox appears to be operating normally, not slipping, but hesitant to drive it any considerable distance for obvious reasons. I've just had the car on a ramp so took some additional pictures from further away for perspective.

Can anyone recommend someone reliable in the London area that could take a look into resolving this? I seem to be being pinged around to not so respectable garages or those who do not have the ability to resolve such an issue.
