Audi A4 B9 - VCDS version?

Hi,
I have VCDS 15.7.0 which I used on my old A3 Saloon, however now I have just purchased a new A4 B9 and found that it's not supported. It looks like only the bleeding edge version supports it:

I just wanted to enable needle sweep. I don't suppose there's anyone around the north-west who has it and would be willing to help out?

v15.1.0 is old now. Update to v16.8.1?

Would you not need to buy a new cable for that though? Surely the 15 cable can't be used with 16 software?

If your cable is genuine then updating should not be an issue, as long as your cable is supported that is.

As above genuine cables are always supported in new software releases. If you buy a VCDS cable that cannot be updated then it's a copy and non genuine.
A genuine cable acts as a dongle to enable the genuine software. Copy cables used hacked software that work only with the copy cable.

You've probably resolved this by now, but for confirmation, I have used VCDS 17.1.2 with my fairly old HEX+USB+CAN cable (HC729776) to successfully enable needle sweep on my B9 allroad. And oil temp. And lap timer (just because I could ).
