Hi guys,

New to the forum, had my A8 for about 6 months, purchased with the engine management light on. In an attempt to fix I have had the egr cleaned, turbo cleaned, full service filters & fluids changed etc, and have changed bank 1 manifold flap motor as it wasn't working.

Only code left now is the P3348 / 19804 fault which, after a lot of reading around, all seems to point towards the electronic turbo actuator or control unit next to the turbo. Now I believe if I replace this part it needs coding using a and I wanted to know if anyone knew a trusted specialist who could firstly try recoding my existing actuator to see if it's just an ecu issue or secondly replacing the actuator and coding in the new one.

Any further advice on this would be appreciated as I'm extremely fed up of countless trips to various garages with no luck.

I have a 2005 A8 3.0 tdi. The main symptoms are that the car goes into limp mode once the engine has warmed up. If I continue to accelerate hard (or go uphill) the glowplug light starts flashing too.

Hello, it is not available as a seperate part. There is no way to code it with VCDS. People do sell used ones and people have had luck replacing them, but you would need a Turbo rebuilder to remove your turbo and put it on a calibration rig to do a proper job. I would say just fit a decent looking one and hope for the best or get a whole new turbo assembly.

A few people on here have had issues with the actuator on the KKK BV50 turbo used on these cars. If you search the forum you should find 2 or 3 threads. As stated above you can't just replace the actuator it really needs to be set up which requires specialist equipment.
Although some people have changed them and had no issues without setting them up. The actuators some times fail because the VNT mechanism on the turbo gets coked up and this increases the load on the actuator and results in the mechanism wearing.
So just changing the actuator may result in the new one not lasting that long.
You can buy new actuators off Ebay or several specialist sites.
