About two weeks ago I approached the forum with this problem...

" 1.8T started juddering and shaking as I was sitting at some traffic lights. I took it slowly home, but the car was losing power and juddering all the way, there was no EML light..."

Alot of people suspected coilpacks, but this was found (by a local mechanic) not to be the problem! So off it went to Audi as he suspected the ECU (no engine light!)

Two weeks later Audi have still not identified the problem- i don't think they have even really looked for it TBH. I was told to wait 7-10 days for an injector, as they noted a missfire on cylinder 3 only. I questioned this diagnosis and the length of time to get this part. I called several Audi dealers and located 6 in the country. I called Audi back and they admitted that they had noted down the wrong Chassis number (glad I questioned this). It would be fitted Sat. I turned up Monday and waited from 3 until 6 and was told that after fitting the injector that the missfire was still there.

I mentioned the injector amplifier (once more), having done extensive research online and through friends, you guys etc. They have ordered the part, and will try it today (they say - I await the call!!)

Surely, there are basic tests for scoping out the amplifier and the injector as opposed to removing, and then replacing them simply in hope!!

Any advice on how I should approach this situation....It is ridiculous (my hire car bills are mounting) £450 thus far,,,

Cheers,

Hire car?, your car is at Audi, which I presume is a dealership, and you had to get yourself a hire car?!

I was offered a courtesy car for warranty work mate, so something wrong there....

I suspect a 2000w plate isn't under warranty.

However I would expect to get a courtesy car from my own local dealership without having to ask. I'm surprised that you've had to hire a car especially as it has gone on so long, and some of the delay was their fault - I suggest you ring the service manager and start some firm but diplomatic negotiation.

My car is a T99, and I was offered a courtesy car for warranty work, I'm suprised he didn't get a car for work he's going to fork out for himself!

Personally I would not bother with the stealers as they know jackshit as what they are taught to plug it in and then follow procedure on what the pooter shows

Thanks for the replies...

Firstly, it is magic to be back in my car. It ****** on the new 1.9TDI & new 1.6 A3 (I had that last night) I have had for 10 days. There were certain things that I liked about each car, (i am going to retrofit the red headline lights for a start) but nothing compares to the sheer quality of the 1.8ts for me,anyway...

Secondly, they charged no labour and the Injector amplifier was covered by private warranty. Moreover, injector no.3, which was fitted was done at their expense and no charge for that...only £150 for diagnosis...which I find hard to swallow as it was me that told them to check the amplifier...

All in all, a trying event and hugely disappointed by the stealers which I will tell them shortly...

Also, does anyone know of any good VAG specialists in the Berkshire area, as Fontain are in teh same boat as Audi IMO...

Thanks for listening....:icon_thumright:
