So, my RS3 is now almost a year old and coming up to 8200 on the clock. Despite the service schedule on the car saying nothing due for another 10k(k)? I've been asking around dealers for price on oil changes service..

Lowest is £342!

Can anyone recommend a dealer/have a palatable (sub £300) quote for a FL RS3 oil & filter service?

Cheers,
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I paid Cardiff Audi £190 when I supplied the oil, it should have been over £300.

Good luck!

It's worth asking whether you can supply your own oil.

I did this on my RS 4 and it saved me £120 on a service (10 litres worth)

Stansted Audi were the dealer btw.

What oil did you put in mate? Did you end up having to sign that silly waiver?

I have a service coming up shortly and it sounds like supplying your own oil can save you a few bob.

Do what lots on here are doing and find a good quality independent, they work on word of mouth not just getting work because they're the 'dealer'
My independent oil change quote was £149.99 inc VAT and I know they will do a much better job than the audi 'master' tech...
Each to their own obviously but I don't feel I will lose out in the long run anymore than paying Audi the £350+ they want each time.

Probably won't do the warranty much good.

EU legislation means warranty CANNOT be effected for having the car serviced elsewhere so long as genuine parts are used. So it makes no difference to the warranty bud.

The only potential issue is if the car is on a PCP, but as per previous threads, I have it in writing from Audi Finance that this too is ok.

Warranty won't be affected and I don't doubt an independent will do as good/if not a better a job, but I'm pretty confident a car without FASH will be that little bit harder to sell/px...

A few years ago I would agree, But these days I think people are wising up to the stealers and their horrific service and prices and I'm not convinced the differences will be as vast as a few years ago. So long as you have FSH and genuine parts still that is.
The kind of people that buy these cars aren't usually your average joes that would want full dealer service, they are petrol heads who come on forums like this. I'd sooner buy an RS3 that'd been cared for by a specialist than an Audi garage. But that is my opinion.

I certainly won't be using Audi myself.

The bigger issue is re-sale. Full Audi service history helps keep the value of the car.

Anyway, thanks for the advise. Local dealer offered £191.97 including parts, VAT and labour if a provide the oil :icon thumright:

Millers Racing Oil Nanodrive, nope I didn’t. On the day I just had to sign the usual job sheet to give authorisation to work on the car, nothing in the script about supplying my own parts etc...

My personal opinion of course, but re sale will be minimal by comparison to the exhaustive costs Audi quote. PCP's have a GFV, Yet I have been told I can service my car anywhere that uses genuine parts, So they are essentially telling me that value will still be guaranteed.

I think there was a poll a while back on here about if you would prefer to buy a car with FDSH or FSH on here, and it was 50/50 split, I reckon a 5 or so years ago it would have been 100% in favour of the dealers.

Glad you got a more sensible price though bud :)

completely agree. If I was buying a tuned up car, with all paperwork (as some advertise on here) I wouldn't worry. If hoever I wanted a car from Audi, I would want/expect AFSH, but as has been said, each to their own.

Think this sums it up... an RS3 for sale from Audi or another mainline dealer you’d expect customers to look for AFSH... tuned up and modded cars a specialist would be the one to look out for, but I’m guessing 75% of buyers aren’t looking for a modded car, they’ll be looking for standard and therefore lowers the target audience... just my thoughts :icon thumright:

Folks. I've posted this before but if you go on the Halfords website and put in your reg and select Interim Service, and also the oil upgrade option. Then go to your basket screen and print that page. It will have your car details, and a price quote for service and oil change for around £150.

Then take this, or email this to your contact at Audi and get them to honor their price match offer. I've done this a few times.

I always take my own oil, after my first service was priced at about £35 per litre for oil (need just over 8 litres for a full change)

There are some excellent deals to be had on eBay for fully synthetic long life oil, to Audi’s recommended specification. I now pay £60 ish max for 10 litres (2x5) of Castro’s Edge Pro LL3 and my main dealer has no issues in using it and I save £200 plus on the oil change service :yahoo:

That's brilliant if it works! Will definitely try this when my service comes up.

Are you guys looking at the 6 month or 12 month service on halfords

Halfords Full 12month 76point service with oil change comes in at £259.

The 24month major service with oil change, brake fluid change and cabin filter change comes in at £315.

I love RS tax, best I ever found was the tyre gunk.

Same part number as the Skoda gunk and the RS was £65 to Skoda's £35, same part number.

If you want to keep the Audi service history and the car is not due yet then get it done independently and don't reset the service indicator. Then when it's due look at getting it done at Audi??

I usually do it on the Interim Service. I also have agreed to pay a little more if they get funny about the oil filter not being genuine.

Remember, if you do the price match on the major service it includes parts like filters which obviously are not Genuine parts. In such case you have to negotiate with your dealer and perhaps offer to pay a bit more than the quote.

It’s great for getting better value even if not a full exact price match.

My dealer basically point blank refused to price match, kept ignoring questioned directed to it and then said they wouldn’t get drawn into the price match terms and conditions but for a start the quote I provided had the wrong amount of labour hours on it.

I refuse to go to any dealers these days following a phone call with a Renault dealership a few years ago... was getting a price on a service for a megane rs. Handbook categorically stated that the warranty would be null and void if they could prove you had used anything other than fully synthetic oil. All fair enough except that the mech at Renault was insistent that they would use mineral oil and couldn't see any issue with this in the slightest. Right then and there I decided that these people clearly knew very little and only cared about prices and profit. I know its a different brand etc but I unfortunately know tar all stealers with the same brush I'm afraid

Sorry to hear that.

Isn’t it a VAG group offer? Worth ringing customer services and asking if franchised dealers can choose to participate or not.

Surely the price match is irrelevant as the Audi 'Master Technician' is the point here.

I'd rather have my car serviced by someone I trust than by a 22 year old who couldn't inform me when the turbo spins up no matter the price..

As for the inspection scam, WALOB.

My Q5 is being serviced and 'inspected' this week by an indy as I will not pay the extra for an Audi 'Master Technician' to take the p1ss.

Warranty is fine and resale will be fine too...

If I was buying a second hand car, as long as it had fsh, no worries....

***, when I was in Australia hardly any second hand cars had any service history but you don't hear of millions of cars going pop out there!
