Just wanted to post my experience with your company!

Normally insurance time is a pain, but your team were extremely quick with quoting over the phone and great to speak to!

I think it was Tabitha?? I spoke to at first, she put me with a company that accept modifications which I can add as I go and the price was great, beat any other quote I had and also free legal cover!!

Also then had a small issue to resolve, dropped Nick a quick PM on here, he replied within the hour and all was sorted!!

Great customer service all round!

Will definitely recommend you to friends and family and will be coming to you for a quote when the missus insurance is due for renewal!

The scheme covers most modifications (excluding nitrous, roll cages and bhp increase of more than 100 over stock). All makes and models are considered egible. Drivers must be aged over 19 for TPF&T and Comprehensive. Drivers of performance models must be aged 23 or over (sometimes 25 - depending on overall risk profile) with a minimum of 12 months' experience of driving/insuring similar performance cars (sometimes 6 months is enough - call us). All drivers must have held a licence for at least 1 year and have at least 1 year's NCB.

I was a bit disappointed that the lady on the phone told me she wouldn't able to go through with my quote due to me not being eligible because I didn't have 2 years NCB .

I will have one years NCB and stated this in the thread I made asking for a quote which @ChrisKnottIns replied to
 
Hi B.D, apologies for the confusion. We had a criteria change recently with one of the main insurers on the scheme. It seems Rebecca had forgotten that the other insurers will still quote with 1 years NCB (momentary lapse of concentration). You'll be fine, so can I ask her to call you back when it's convenient to take the rest of the details and see if we can offer a quote?

UPDATE: Current savings data from Chris Knott


Hi guys, I was just looking at some MI and a couple of figures really stood out. I believe they're powerful reminders of why members should include Chris Knott when looking for car insurance quotes...

The first one is where customers have told us their existing insurer's renewal quote Chris Knott has been quoting an average of £230.12 less than their renewal - that represents a 37.12% average saving.*

Even when we compare our quotes with their supplied best quote (including those on comparison websites) it's still a worthwhile saving - an average of £54.89 less than the best available alternative (11.94%)**

Hi, just some quick feedback on getting my first quote from you guys. Can't help feeling that you are shooting yourself in the foot by not being able to beat quotes against your competitor's quotes I got from over the phone?, only the written renewal is the figure you can work with, which you did beat I must add.

Hi, jojo, I think Kim explained that we can compete with your phone quote but you need to supply us with proof of the quote so we can justify it with the underwriters. Obviously, less scrupulous people might give a false figure. If you can give us proof of the quote we'll happily go back to the insurers for you.

Yes she did, but I don't remember the last time any insurer ever giving me a written quote, ever? I just felt you may have limited your options with this. To be honest, in all the years I've purchased car insurance, this was the first time I was told this. I appreciate you need cover yourselves with the whole false figure thing.

I'm not knocking your service by the way, Kim was polite and informative, as was all the other insurers I called up.

I just wanted to make a request though - PLEASE CAN YOU PHONE US INSTEAD if you're after an instant quote. It's the quickest and easiest process for both of us and ensures you get your special club scheme quote when you want it, at a time that's convenient.

Though we do respond to the web forms quite quickly, often we get an answerphone or no answer at all and then you have to ring us anyway. You can see how it's not ideal - it means we're catching you at a time that's NOT convenient.

We leave an answerphone message and follow up with an email but we don't want to miss the opportunity to give you a competitive quote through the club/forum's special scheme. Phoning us first and then only using the form as a last resort should make it easier for you to get a winning Chris Knott quote.

The BBC News website reports:
"Drivers saw their car insurance premiums rise by an average of £110 in the last year, a comparison site says. More expensive repairs and recent government changes to injury payouts pushed up annual insurance costs by 16%, according to Confused.com. It found drivers paid on average £781 on comparison sites for a comprehensive policy in the year to March 2017. Average premiums are set to rise to a record high and could pass £1,000 next year, it added. Newer vehicles have seen some of the biggest rises, because their increasingly complex electronics have made repairs more expensive...

...The Confused [dot] com research...checks more than four million car insurance quotes."


I just wanted to let you know that the Chris Knott average premium through the club insurance scheme is much lower than that reported on the comparison sites.

In March 2016, Chris Knott's average premium was less than half that at £369. This March (2017) it was £399 - just a £30 increase and still majorly more economical than £781. There's definitely something beneficial for members in using the club scheme through Chris Knott then.

I was involved in a no fault accident last year and expected my renewal to go up to stupid money, even though it wasn't my fault. Was really surprised with the quote and have now renewed for another year.

Hi, just been told you cannot quote for the new RS3 despite being able to select from a range of quotes via gocompare for the new face lift model?
 
I'm wondering, did we suggest THE CAR wasn't yet on our system or that we couldn't quote YOU on it because you didn't meet the scheme criteria?
Your sales colleague rang me back and I was told that my current insurer (Highways) didn't cover the car and that the next best quote was over £2k. I've since done a little more research and received a quote from More Than that I'm happy with although I really didn't want to change from yourselves. I'm a 'low risk' driver and have been a customer of yours for a number of years so was unsure as to why you were unable to get anywhere near.

Phoned for a quote on an RS3 saloon only to be told that you don’t insure anyone under the age of 30 on ‘this type of car’ which is a bit strange... I’ve owned numerous performance cars in the past and never had this problem before

That is a bit odd as I'm looking at one particular insurer's criteria here that says we can cover RS3's for drivers aged 25+ if you have 12 months' ownership. Please feel free to give us another try or PM me your number so I can arrange the call.

Hi Nick, the car will be brand new on the 1st March so I won’t have had 12 months ownership on it

Hi Nick,
Let me start off with the staff have been a pleasure to deal with and very understanding of my insurance needs. The quote provided is very competitive and I’m about to take it on.
However I do have 1 tiny/small complaint. The office hours are 9-5. I understand no one likes working late or early but a lot if not most of your customers probably have a 9-5 job. Which means it’s difficult for us to have time during your office hours to discuss insurance.
A small recommendation might be open till 6(maybe later) or have your office hours 10-6 instead.
Just a suggestion

Hi Al, it's a good suggestion and an idea we do wrestle with from time to time. It's interesting to hear members starting to require this.

We're open on Saturday mornings of course from 9-12 if that helps.

CK I have a question for you?

Talking to a guy who has a Golf R like me which is a year newer than mine plus he is a year younger than me (both in our mid 30's). Why is his insurance half the price of mine? And even he says he is paying too much. Not only that he had to make a claim 3 years ago as he had a car nicked from his house.

Is it because I live down south I have to pay double? As a loyal customer of yours can you answer?

We are not and I know everyone is different but that to me is a massive difference he was paying £250 fully comp but according to his insurance company insurance premium tax is to blame for his going up to £450. Back in June you guys originally quoted me £1000 then got it down to £795. Ok I had 6 points dated back in 2015 but I have never had to claim ever for a stolen or written off vehicle. So why the massive difference?
 
Those 6 points will likely be a major factor in the difference. Without quoting you both separately with the same insurer and seeing how each of those quotes is made up I can't really comment on why there's a current difference in rate. At the moment you're not even with the same insurer so there's the way his company rates versus the way yours does and it probably moves apart from there. A Golf R at £250 seems ridiculously cheap - I suspect they didn't realise what the R was and that's why it jumped £200 (the IPT increase wasn't that great) at renewal.
