I've been on the lookout for a decent set of black all leather and all electric recaro's for ages now , found these today and was about to hit the button on these below when I relised they are saloon rears seats, now front will be fine but I recal a few guys having issues with the rears and the saloons not really converting properly to avant useage.
can anyone please refresh my memory on what the format is before I waste more money...

Dimi won't be able to help. He had fixed rears so avant rears wouldn't have fitted his.

Rob are those recaros from a B6 or B7?

not sure as the seller says b6/b7 I suspect B6 but without the part numbers they could be either, from the last set I saw that were saloon rears it was abit of a task to make them fit properly in an avant so I don't really want the hassle , I'd prefer as easy install as possible .

just had another read through the listing, says 2004 S4 so they are B6.

You neee to know rob.

If they are B6 then they arnt going to be a straight swap for them to work "Properly", by properly I mean the air bags in them.

The b7 uses a bladder sensor in the seat along with the seat belt buckle to detect someone sat in the seat and wether or not to deploy said airbag. For the B6 seats to fit you need to fit a b7 bladder which isn't easy and if not done right the airbags won't work. This is the reason I haven't fitted several sets of B6 seats that have been coming I cheap.

thanks for the feedback dani, what you say does sound familiar to be honest on the fronts and i suspect the rears are going to problematic too and is why I was hesistant on buying them, I think i'd rather keep on looking for the right ones to just fit in without issues really, many thanks for the help dani, much appreciated chap.

No problem at all matey.

I've asked a few times about this swap and never got a answer so I did a bit of research and came across nick and his car blog along with a few guides from across the pond.

In the end it just seemed like too much hassle and due to how complicated and delicate the bladder system is I opted not to mess with it.

The rears I thought were just a straight swap!

Keep an eye out for a seller "arcadeblaster" on eBay. He seems to specialise in breaking B6/B7 S4s. If you do a search on "Audi S4 breaking" some of his will come up.
He tends not to list the seats separately.

Right I have B6 recaros in mine - the difference for the rears are the 'side bolsters' that don't come with the saloon version (if you go out to yours you will see the extra bolster on the rear seats) these are just two extra pieces to pad out the Avant area. So they fit but you will have a gap.

In relation to the fronts - the bladder for the airbag is only in the passenger side and can be bypassed with a solenoid, this still allows the airbag to work.

Also these are heated so you just don't attach that connector

The only issues I have had is the airbag code for the passenger seats limit being exceeded (the fuse) but I can't find the passenger fuse.

So it stays in place and I reset the airbag via a vagcom reader.

Also best single thing I did to the interior.

So how does the solenoid work? Surely if your bypassing it then the air bag system can't work properly?

You got a link to the write up on how to do it?

It was already done to the seat when I got it - nothing relating to the plugs from what I could see.

The fellah who sold me them had already done the solenoid as I asked him about the bladders.

Only evidence of wires was under the seat. I only got the code when the seats are moved to their extreme forward or back position - this is due to the fuse.

Vagcom shows no faults.

Sorry I can't help anymore than that.

Id be very wary of that Tyrer, I spent ages researching this and the bladder system is quite involved.

I cant see how the resistor will work correctly, if it makes the bladder system think the seats occupied then the seat belt light should be on unless the buckle is in place, alternatively its bypassing the airbag system meaning that it fools the system into thinking the seats empty all the time.

Think the guy that sold it told you some made up **** pal.
