B8 Big brakes thread?

Anyone reckon it's worth doing a stickied brakes thread for the B8? i used the guide in the 8L section quite a bit and am now thinking of looking into a bbk for my s4. I know there's a lot of options for these (rs upgrade, lambo brakes, forge, brembos, q5 brembos) but dont really know much about each option. I'm happy to look up a few kits and do some research but if someone else fancied helping to create a guide it would make things quite a bit easier, especially anyone that may have already been doing some research.

Set up something along the lines of

The Q5 4 pot setup looks best bang for buck and seems to work on the A4 standard discs without a problem, dont know if they'll fit over s4 discs though, i dont really want to go with smaller discs on my setup but the info will still be useful for people with a4s

18z brembo 6 pot calipers seem to be easy to get hold of and cheap and fit relatively easy but haven't found any definitive info on what discs work with this setup yet.

Lamborghini murcielago calipers also seem relatively cheap for a remanufactured pair but haven't found any information on fitting or discs yet.

PB brakes, cheap and the kits look great but dont seem to be any tried and tested, good ebay feedback but haven't found anything on forums.

Will post some links to full aftermarket kits tomorrow, the prices will make your eyes water a bit though!

Those look like the same ECS discs I have on my car. The 4 pot 345mm Q5 Brembo calipers are hard to find used as they have only recently started using them and they are not used on all the models. It would be quite easy to get some 320mm Brembo Q5 calipers second hand as they are used on a few different models. I got my calipers from Mike through the parts ordering system.
One of the problems with the B8 brake system I think is lack of brake duct cooling. You really don't need big brakes to stop the car well, the 345mm Q5 setup works well and provides a lot of stopping power. If you want to do that several times in succession though the brakes will fade.
Fitting even bigger brakes helps a bit, but on the RS cars they have ducts to provide air to the brakes.
That's why I fitted the TTRS wheel well vents and Porsche Macan brake ducts to feed some air to the brakes.

I reckon i'll be going 345 q5 setup with 2 piece discs, i will get back to work on this thread tomorrow hopefully. Even buying the calipers and discs new, it still works out a lot cheaper than the majority of the aftermarket kits out there and should provide a nice increase in stopping power

The Q5 Brembo caliper pad also has the same profile as the pad used in Subaru STI and Mitsubushi EVO's. So you can get pads in almost any performance street or race compound. These pads don't have the cutouts for the brake pad wear sensors but I don't find that an issue.
You don't need to cut your existing sensors, just tie wrap them up out of the way on the strut. That's what I have done with mine.
These were the red stuff pads I fitted to my front brakes. They were cheapest ordered from car parts for less as you get 10% off the performance parts. They were around £92 for the Redstuff pads

All these were around £55 delivered from Mike the parts guy, obviously they were never designed to fit the car so some tweaking is required to make them fit including cutting the undertray. So it's not a 5 minute job to fit these.

That's a interesting one... 6 pot calipers for under £750, and OE 350mmx32mm discs for around £100-150 a corner.

I had a read into that but a guy who did the conversion and he worked in porsche,said the uprights needed to be changed,if you do a search on it he gives a part list.Im sticking with the q5s.

I had q5/ttrs calipers and 370mm disc's on 18 wheels with my vrs before as such I believe the disk will fit it's more will caliper strike the spokes of the alloys

No, I run red stuff front and back on my car. There are many people running them on there RS3's with no issues as the factory pads are both noisy, dusty and chew up the discs.

I've been pondering over an idea,but can't seem to find the full specs of the Porsche Macan 350x34mm discs.
If anybody has the ability to get the info it would be very helpful.

Info on them seems hard to come by at the moment, I do have a friend that works in a porsche service centre though as parts procurement, will drop her a bell and see if she can trace any info down. i'd be quite interested in using the macan setup. this is one of the only places that i've even been able to find the discs for sale
