SQ5 B9 SQ5 and Apple Carplay

So my 2018 SQ5 TFSI was delivered today; first impressions are that it is epic! I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I familarise myself with it but first up, is the Apple Carplay wireless or just wired? I've managed to set it up with a cable connected to the USB port but can't find a way to make it work wirelessly. Of course the easy answer could be that it doesn't operate wirelessly or it could be that it does but I'm too stupid to work it out.

Apple Carplay isn't wireless on the 2018 model SQ5. Odd really because my SQ5 (2018) has the wireless charging phone box/pad but doesn't come with wireless Apple Carplay.

Yes, that’s a nuisance because I had ordered an after market wireless charger pad that sits over the cupholders and plugs into the USB port below the armrest. It would have been such a neat solution but I’ve had to cancel the order as it will stop me using CarPlay.

Yup!,and this is why i am here hope to find some good solutions to make my wired carplay to wireless.

It does list the Audi A3 as a compatible vehicle if you scroll down.

Junk. I bought one called carplay2air. Same product different box.

intermittent connection and poor customer service.

Ok, so my CarPlay is now wireless, thanks to this little device. It plugs into the USB data port in the box under the armrest. It also has a USB pass-through port for power. That’s allowed me to plug in a wireless charger pad which sits neatly on top of the cupholders. For the time being, I’ve placed a black microfibre cloth over the top to hide the gubbins. I’m still looking for an organiser tray for the FY-platform Q5 to slot over the top of the storage box.
