My Audi battery is slowly dying so will need to replace it soon.

With everything on cars there is lots of options for the replacement.

what’s the best way to go about this? Should I just go to Audi and pick up an OEM battery or just get a Bosch one from my local car parts store?

is the replacement a straight swap or is there any coding needed?

Was told by the AA guy replace the EFB type battery with an agm battery.
New battery will need coding.

How old is your car?

I ask as my S3 was coming up to 5 years old, and would spend weeks at a time just sat in the garage without moving. Fired up every time, and never gave me concern the battery was dying.

My car is August 2016 and the battery is definitely on the way out.
Slow cranking, although it still starts ok.

VCDS readings give the following after sitting overnight

7 minutes of having the ignition on and all accessories off

Just a thought for my own future interest. If the battery needs coding and you could get an Audi dealer to do a price match, wouldn't it be cheaper to go direct to the Audi dealer than buy a battery and then pay for coding?

doubt dealers will price match parts.
It’s normally just servicing.
Tayna is very cheap for batteries. An agm battery for around £110 is cheap, dealers would want £300+. There isn’t much in the coding side of it. Change a few numbers so the module recognise a new battery has been installed as far as I know. Not sure if obd11 or carista can do this.

My car is a 2015 tdi. It seems to be struggling to start on the colder mornings or when left for a few days

Yes

Just enter battery type, capacity, and change serial number (doesn’t matter what serial number is changed to, it’s just a flag to the car to learn a new battery).
