Hi guys,

I'm new to all this re-mapping, and I would appreciate any help/advice about re-mapping.

Firstly, I have a 2005 Audi A3 2.0 tdi Quattro, 140.

All I want to do is re-map so I can have more power at lower revs and more economy from the car.

What do you guys recommend and from where?

I'm from west yorkshire.

Thanks a lot.

These guys are in Halifax
http://www.theracingline.co.uk/

They're mostly Jap specialists, but are a Revo dealer, and knowledgeable guys, so might be worth speaking to.

As long as they are a reputiable company that will offer a rolling road before & after then i think you will be fine, ive used P Torque before and i think i will be going for Revo on my A3. I would avoid the mobile agents at all costs though.

I can vouch for both chipped uk and chip'n'spin. I have their fast road map on my 140 and its ace! Its even better with shell v-power:superman:

What sort of price will I be looking at and what should I expect from a decent company?

As you can probably tell, I don't know anything about re-maps, never mind which ones? lol

So APL TDI, you rekon I should go for the fast road map? Does this also give good mpg?? And how much more BHP you got?

It gives about 180-185bhp and more importantly 395-400Nm of torque. I get an average of 46-47 mpg and paid £250 for it. They usually cost around £400 but every now and then chip'n'spin do a special offer for £250.

Well worth it imo:thumbsup:

i can vouch for chipped uk too

i have the fast road on all the time and its very fast but within the limits of the car, my car has 100k on the clock and i was worried about my clutch but they peg the torque at the level at which it can handle, they know what they are on about with audis definitely

with chipped uk you can get the st-3 box which hold 3 maps

-fast road
-eco
-standard

for £300 its well worth every penny.

you can get more power from other company's but i wouldn't trust much more power from these engines.
A friend has the same car as me but a different remap from a lesser known tuning company, his car is at 190bhp and only slightly faster than mine but he has 50k on the clock and his clutch is slipping like a wet fish.

Thanks for the advice, but where are chipped uk based?

I would love to get my car booked in and sorted out.

Do chipped uk fit the st-3 box switch when they re-map? or is this seperate mod?

they are based in bromsgrove but they will post you the st-3 nd they email you the maps

the st-3 is a box which allows you to upload the remaps and switch them yourself, very easy

So, if I buy the st-3, then I don't have to pay anything else for re-mapping??
And can I get one for the group buy price £299??

Steer well clear (no pun intended!) of Morego. Bunch of monkeys almost completely ruined my mkV Golf GTI. Had the car's engine management die on me in the outside lane of the M25 just half hour after they'd remapped it. I literally could have been killed. Limped back to them in safety mode - they remapped it again... half way home, went wrong again... went back two more times and then enough was enough - back to factory settings and my money back. Hardly keen to refund I might add and one man and his lap top was about the strength of their technical capability. Their 'workshop' looked like Steptoes back yard.

I went to AMD after all that and they were excellent. I had my last TT remapped by AMD as well - again, excellent. Now considering if I really need 300bhp on my S3... probably not as it's more than fast enough as standard, but never say never I suppose...

I'll second that, Matt (TRL) really knows his stuff - mapped my wife's CZT colt to perfection.

I have used Moego (or BBR Gti as they were known) for mapping my Mini Cooper S to 220Bhp. I cannot praise them enough and they DO really know their stuff. Adrian Newey's Lotus Elise was in there being supercharged and mapped for stupid levels of power and suspension mods to control it. I cannot imagine he would give his car(s) to just anyone. Morego definately have pedigree and actaully prove their mapping and mods with engines in engine dyno cells before selling to the public. Not by a bit of guess work while driving cars around on the public highway and drive on dynos.

BTW, I have not affiliation with BBR at all, just I was happy customer

Has anyone tried Bluefin on an S3? Looks good, maybe too good hmmmmmm. Wouldn't mind one myself.

Shame you can't remap through VAGCOM really.

My friend has recently had his 8p s3 done, to start with he felt it was a bit too smooth so he contacted superchips who invited him down and did a re-map and gained another 18 bhp

before the map his was running on super unleaded and getting 292 bhp, now he has 310bhp and he seems very happy.

I believe that the bluefin map has now been updated with his exact map....

My s3 should be here in the next two weeks and also have to choose between the revo or Bluefin.....

I do like the idea of not having to take it somewhere to get the work done and being able to put the car back to stock using the bluefin....

I guess it all comes down to personal choice.... but 310bhp from just a reflash is damm good....

I am guessing that the revo may give you a little more ???:uhm:
