I currently have cinturato tyres all round on my S3 from the previous owner and I’m getting a lot of wheel spin, what’s the best tyre to go for? Thanks

Go with the very latest designs that are improved upon .

MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 1 e1643898030794 702x429

Also MPS4S

I would get the haldex checked if you are constantly wheel spinning. Might be clogged or pump broken.

I'm running Michelin Pilot Super Sport 4 S all round 235/35 ZR19 (91Y) all round which transformed the car, it had mixed tyres front rear when I bought it,

PS4S all round too and they are good. Have you actually got low tread though? As even on a lesser tyre it shouldn’t really be wheel spinning and as above this could be the haldex.

My suggestion would be Hankook Ventus S1 Evo 3 K127. For normal use same features as above but for less money. Much less. Just bought a set of four in size 245/40/19 for my Passat to replace Michelin Pilot Sport 3's.

Mine has mich PS4S on front axle and Ventus S1 Evo3 on rear axle. Zero wheelspin from front or rear on a launch and seems to grip just as well rear as it does front around the corners.
If I was replacing tyres I would go PS4S all round but I'm also impressed with the S1 Evo 3

Well… I went to a garage today and yes my haldex AWD isn’t working so that explains a lot lol

Would be interested to know how your cinturato's stack up when you fix your haldex, please. I ran those on my last 4 a3's and was very impressed with them, super quiet, handle snow fine, no wheelspin (despite fwd and s-tronic) but I'm not sure cinturato's are "sporty" enough for an s3.

Haldex Pump is probably shot. A replacement kit is just over 200 quid or so from haldex repairs. co .uk. Labour is minimal too.

Yeah I’ll let you know, booked in the garage on Monday

Booked in the garage on Monday, they quoted me £210

Is that to specifically replace the pump? if so that's a very good price.

Just had it all done, the pump needed replacing and the motor, got a bill back for £720 but all good now thank the lord

The motor? Not heard of that before. Is there a part number or something on the invoice?

Nice I might try those if they are significantly cheaper than PS5's then!

Glad about that, as I had thought the pump and motor were one thing, and you get a new clean strainer!

Im sure other will confirm but isn’t £720 for pump, fluids and labour very expensive/high?
Bet you wish it was the tyres now

Sadly, yes. £228.20 for a new pump kit (includes fluids and everything needed), from haldex repairs, and then probably an hour labour (if that). That's why I asked about this replacement motor mentioned above and wondered if it was some other component I didn't know about.
Having said that, haldex repairs are very cheap despite it being the OEM kit. I only knew about them from my local garage who are a VW specialist and do their best to look after their customers. Obtaining exactly the same kit from elsewhere can cost an awful lot more, especially from an Audi garage.

£720 must be dealer prices

I would guess that's the case. Perhaps the cost of a diagnostic is also included as I'd guess a dealer wouldnt just assume the pump is guffed and replace it. They would want to prove it beforehand.
