So I thought I’d post up the events of yesterday.
Bit of background, my car is Stage 1 mapped with a crackle map but with a non sports exhaust. Ever since I’d been in my mate’s Stage 1 FL with a sports exhaust I’d hankered after the sound. None the less the car I bought and the deal I got was too good to turn down.
I’ve seen a few posts regarding PCW and my mate has a B9 RS4 and he was after it sounding better too. So we popped down there yesterday.
For those of you interested in the differences in the Sports and non-Sports exhaust, it’s simply the length of the silencers before the backbox. Paul modifies these and the backbox and after speaking with him, he’s said that now mine is exactly the same as a modified Sports exhaust. I think the pre-silencers are more or less gutted now.
In sport it’s savage, it sounds epic and my does it bark and crack when the ignition cuts on gearchanges. Hot startup is even more amusing in petrol stations! I drove it back to Leeds mainly in ‘Sport’ because I’m a child and enjoyed firing cannons at unsuspecting drivers. As a side note it can be droney at 2,000rpm, only if you load it with torque.
However, switch it to comfort and all is calm, perfectly acceptable for a baby to fall asleep in the back I reckon.
For those who don’t have a sports exhaust and want one but a bit louder, absolutely do this mod, it’s now exactly the same for a fraction of the cost and with running additional boost it brings that 5 pot alive. At least it’s OEM too and there’s also no risk of ***** fitment. Paul’s welding is also second to none and with the exhaust all mounted up you can’t even tell.
Big thumbs up from me and thanks to Paul at PCW, now where’s my car keys?!
