Black Out RS3 Grille

Just bought a 2012 RS3, very impressed but would like to black out the grille but leave the rings silver.. Reading some forums that paint looks crap, needs to be a plastic coating?

Stone chips will soon show through the Ali grille if painted. So you can either go aftermarket (xenonz) or buy an oem grille
