Black window trim started to corrode

Anyone else had to sort this issue ? The black trim around my Avant rear quarter window is starting to corrode , 1 bodyshop says trims come off real easy, other bodyshop is reluctant to remove it

Just checked, yep plastic , must just be paint peeling off , I’ll still need to get it fixed , I’m hoping painter can do a good job with them still attached, I also have a tiny (match head size) bit of rust just under the plastic trim on other side, this paint job is going to snowball

I have a tiny bit of etching in the same place your paint has flaked off so I'll have a closer look. My first thought was perhaps the trim had a metal inner strip and maybe was rusting under the plastic.
