Dash cam manufacturers claim their parking mode lasts for a long time but it’s useless if battery voltage falls below the shut off voltage.
Power consumption of the dash cam is something to consider.

Blackvue and Thinkware offers the best parking features.

Blackvue offers time lapse with buffered event recording. A 1 minute video will show 30 minutes of footage and buffered event recording will record 5-6 seconds before the impact. Power consumption for DR900X 2CH’s parking mode is 365mA per hour (Wi-Fi on).

Thinkware offers time lapse and another feature called energy saving. Time lapse will record a 15 second video file for a 10 minute period.
Energy Saving Mode conserves energy by going on standby and records footage when an impact occurs.
Thinkware consumes 8mA per hour on Energy Saving Mode – lasting for approximately 23 days.

Thinkware has a much lower power consumption overall depending on your configuration.
