Hi, My 2002 s3 has started to smoke on start up (only start up) renewed the plugs and 2 of them had wet oil on the tips and on the threads and the other 2 were perfect no oil and a light brown coloured tip. The car drives and performs fine. Any ideas what the problem could be.

Thanks

the S3 is notorious for smoking on start up for a good few miles.....is it definately blue smoke?

yeah blue smoke i thought stem seals but cant understand why the 2 plugs closest to the air box had oil on them and the other 2 didn't

hi

i'd say valve stem seals are worn, i might be wrong (im not a mechanic) the valves may have been open in the two cylinders, allow oil to settle on the plugs and the other two cylinders the valves will have been closed enough to not let the oil pass through, if you check the plugs again you might have oil on the different plugs.

i may be talking complete crap here tho so wait for some one more knowlegable lol
