Facelift Buying a new car need help

S-line has harder suspension (although it could be specified to Sport)
Also different wheels and some minor external styling differences.
Also some optional extras on the Sport were standard on the S-line. But as all cars could be specified with any number of extras it’s difficult to say.
Try to get an old brochure off the Internet.

If it was me it would have to be the SLine. More kit as standard than the sport...I am not 100% sure but the sport doesn't have LED driving lights as standard.. The only thing to consider is insurance. Not sure on your personal situation ie age ect? but higher premium on Sline compared to the sport model.

I think the S Line looks nicer with the different wheels, sits lower [unless original owner opted for non S-Line suspension] and odd styling touches, but you might loose some things. I know my A3 is a 2019 but I went for the Sport spec to retain leather/synthetic leather instead of leather and fabric.

I don’t think that LED lights were standard on any of the A3 models in 2013.

Personally if you can afford the s line then I’d go for that. Find a local dealer which has a sport and a line a3, then sit in and get a feel for both.

When I was younger I bought a mk6 golf s. Ended up spending £££ on led tail lights, headlights, alloys, upgraded radio etc. I probably spent more than what I could have got a Match or alike spec for. Since then I’ve got the specs I wanted and not had to pay out for extras I regretted I had.

Definitely go S Line. Much nicer styling. Sport doesn’t have the DRL and looks dated vs S Line.

thank you guys you made me realise actually, I really want an S-Line, I would end up regretting it really badly.

What do you guys think of the 1.4 Petrol 150bhp engine? is it a good reliable engine? any known faults ?

I am 25 so I know insurance will kill me due to my location & age however I feel 150bhp is perfectly fine for my needs (local/small trips), I'm a very safe driver.

I had the 1.4 COD 150 engine. Its the one to have below S3 I think.

It’s awesome. A good balance of power and economy. Very quiet. I had mine 4.5 year and not a single issue.

As above. The 1.4 COD/ACT 150 engine is a gem assuming it’s been looked after. Ok it runs out of puff at the top end of the rev range but as stated before, it’s a great balance of performance and economy.

I am potentially going to look at an audi a3 saloon (S-Line) tomorrow, very fairly low miles 28k, is there anything to look out for which screams red flags?

2 previous owners + full service history according to the seller

If a manual, I guess make sure the gears are all smooth and go in properly. I and a few others had issues of the car not going into first from neutral when setting off. Lead to a few panics when lights changed.

Mine was so infrequent I didn’t get it seen to though.

Apart from that and the odd plastic rattle which a lot of cars have, I didn’t have any other issues with mine until shocks went at about 50k miles.

If it’s been fully serviced I’d say the main thing to look closely at is condition.

Great news, I bought an A3 S-Line saloon with fairly low miles 28k, It's my first german / audi car. I'm really pleased with it.

Now my worry is, as it will be sitting in the drive way quite a lot, should I get a tracker?
also because my town is full idiot drivers, should I get a dashcam fitted asap.

I suppose having good security on your car isn't a bad thing. Dashcam is probably worth it and yeah a tracker also. There will be an annual subscription on the tracker though..Not sure how much?
Pics of the car please:thumbs up:

No I know as I am checking S3 2014 which cost only 13 grand.. I have a3 tdi 2015 53k miles I keep car clean all the time I replace oil quite often as I drive fast.. My a3 tdi 2.0 quattro has value 10 grand so thinking of selling it and adding only 3 grand to get this nice S3 :)

I will get some pics, haven't had a good weather/chance to get any pics, will try this week. Really excited about this car, first time driving something this new! came from a 2005 astra lol :racer:

Regarding servicing, the trader was saying its all done online these days? I assume go to Audi or a Audi Specialist but how do you check when its due?

Also does anyone know how to check howmuch tyre pressure I need to put in ? (A3 S-line Saloon 2014)

many thanks,
Tan

Congrats on your purchase!
I always got a service record summary attached to my servicing invoices but you won’t have this. Check with your local Audi dealership, they’d probably print one for you. The new electronic system is a pain in this respect, much preferred a stamped / signed service book.
