Buying an S4

Looking for an S4 - but does the 1999 facelift apply to these ? All the cars I've seen photos of look the same, apart from some having centre armrests. Were there any differences between 1998 and 2001 ?
Anything I should look for ?

Door handles are the big give away, the face lift have proud handles and the older cars have flush handles. there are more but this is the one that lets you know straight away.

Facelift models have a different interior and switchgear, once piece headlights,
better turbo oil lines and exahust manifolds. There is a thread somwhere on
www.rs246.com detailing the differences. If you are thinking of buying an S4
I would do some research there as it has an S4 specific forum.
