I am writing a feature for Piston Heads on the C5 RS6 Avant and wondered if you could please share your opinions in terms of the following...

Servicing and maintenance - what are your recommended service intervals and approximate costs?

Potential issues - what tends to go wrong and roughly how much might it cost to fix?

Tuning - what are the most popular tuning choices with RS6 owners?

Hi,

Gearbox is fragile on RS6 C5, see if oil changes were performed.

If you cannot afford it, don't buy-it ! As above, a peach of an engine but the weak gearbox is letting it down ! I am on the look out for one with a broken gearbox to do a manual conversion...or even better- put the engine into a d3 audi a8 !

Suspension is prone to fail so most folks convert to coil overs, brakes can be expensive to replace
