Been searching threads but can’t find much recent
...been quoted 425 for cam belt and water pump while I’m having my hex key/balance shaft work done
Thought it may be cheaper while it’s up on ramps/in bits
What we think?

I take it that's for parts and labour, and not OE parts either?
Parts would be about £150 ish (GSF), so it's a pretty high labour charge whilst it's up on ramps. But I don't think the bumper, cam belt etc has to come off to do the shaft and oil pump though so that is extra.

Yes parts and labour ,specialist vag only uses oe parts apparently made exception for my oil pump bits

Not too bad then I suppose for OE parts.

Have they got your balance shaft, pump and hex key from KMB?
I would hope so, they upgrade the shaft with hardened inserts and guarantee it for life. The VAG one wouldn't be, and cost over £1k because I believe it all comes as a complete unit, not just the parts you need.
OE is good, but not always.

I don’t actually know where they’re getting it from (embarrassing)
When I enquired about the work they said they knew about the hex key issues and the uprated parts and could source it all and do the work which would include guarantee, the oil pump work is costing me 475 parts and labour so it definitely isn’t the Audi complete unit

I’ve asked them to save me the parts as I’d be interested to see the wear

I paid £450.00 for cambelt, tensions, water pump and Auxiliary belt, all parts used are genuine.
This is for a 2.0tfsi engine.
